Edit: stoked at my fifth Daily Deviation. Thank you so much (Anoya) for featuring me, and (TimberClipse), (BokehLight), and (Miguel-Santos) for suggesting the image for a Daily Deviation.One of my favourite places in New Zealand, is beautiful Lake Matheson.
On favourable mornings, the reward for your early morning hiking aspirations is a crystal clear and calm lake offering pristine reflections of the alpine spectacle before your eyes.
Not the most conducive cloud cover formation for a landscape image (covering Mount Cook wholesale), but, after a failed attempt the morning prior, I was thankful for the fire in the sky this second morning's attempt.
This is an image from my spring 2011 campaign of the South Island.

This is an absolutely beautiful HDR piece. If I didn't know any better, I'd think that nature herself was being guided by you in this pose! Your camerawork and editing are a true testament to your skill as not only a photographer, but an artist.

Thanks for the comment!
I just wanted to point out that there is no HDR treatment here. It is a single exposure. I used two graduated neutral density filters to control the dynamic range in the sky and the reflection.

I didn't know that an image like this could be produced with such a long exposure time, especially, as you mentioned, with the dynamic lighting found within this frame.Β I'll have to add that technique to my repertoire.Β Thank you for the lesson.
