Kary,
I agree with you -- they should change it. Or, perhaps just apply a neutral theme to anything posted in the photography category. Or, even, allow the user what coloured background or theme to employ per Deviation.
Cheers.

H

You're right. It does improve the shadow detail. Superb, ethereal image, with great depth and beauty.

twelvemotion,
That was one incredible morning. I took another shot of that location just a few moments later; it's also in my gallery, titled Mystic Dawn.
I am off to New Zealand on Tuesday and am hoping to visit this location again to capture some spring dawn light.

And, yes, that was the intention -- hence the title including the word "masterstroke".

Thanks for your interest, though.

KT,
Oh, neat. What song was it, if you don't mind me asking?
Everytime I process an image, whether it be one of my astrophotographs or landscapes, I am always listening to music. Sometimes the music influences the direction I take with the final presentation!

Oh! Sure!
The song is by a band from Mexico called Café Tacuba and the song itself is called "Sin Titulo (Untitled)"
Here's a link to it on youtube: [link]

Thank you!
It was so peaceful being there. Just me, the call of the birds around me and the enchantment of the mountains.

I completely believe you. It soothes me just looking at that picture. I'm more of a mountain type rather than a beach type of girl when it comes to appreciating nature beauty.
If I were to oil paint this... would I have your permission, with all due credits given to you, of course?

octane2 In reply to KarySky [2011-12-05 10:19:03 +0000 UTC]
Kary,
I'm also more of a mountain person than a beach person. Although, there's a few beach-related landscape/waterscape scenes in my collection, as you'll notice.
But, I think they were special enough moments captured there to give them their own appeal.
At the root of it, I want to be close to the mountains. I love winter. I would have a ball!
You are more than welcome to paint this. I would /love/ to see a rendition of it up here, or even buy one off you, if you decide to do more than the one.
Warmest regards,
H

I don't know when I will have the time to paint this, but I truly want to, and I'll show you the result, of course.
Happy Christmas,
Kary

Oh, you're so kind.
I'll send you a note, if you're still interested in a print.
Just bear in mind, that this is 6x17 format (almost a 3:1 aspect ratio).

No, I haven't re-processed it -- it's the same image. Maybe you're seeing it on a different monitor?
I will have to revisit it at some stage as the dead pixel is bothering me!
