Description
Again, experimenting with Native American/Mesoamerican styles. And if anyone would be so kind as to offer me some feedback, I am curious to know whether you think I should continue in this direction or revert back to my old style. Criticism will not offend me! ThanksRelated content

Honestly, surely, that 'style' has been exhausted- and has even exhausted me. Are you sure the whole schtick isn't copyrighted!? I Live in western Canada, and it's almost as if that mode of art has been totally applied to commercial ends.
Revert!

I think you should definitely explore this direction to its fullest. You are incredibly talented and produce unique images. This pacific coast native flair is simply brilliant.

i think your own style is growing into smth with more fresh power (not that aboriginal art is smth weak), judging by your older works.
these two would work perfectly together ( i like them both) but iยดd suggest you blend them more together.
at the moment these two are too distinct. try mixing colors and shapes more and take few shapes and colors for one pic and move on as you work.
good job!!!!!!

i like this style a whole lot, and i think this piece is very nice. yet your other work has an awesome fragmented style to it, almost cubist in nature, while this seems to be in a pretty straight forward northern native American style, a style which i love but is not as original as your other work. i think it would be interesting if you infused this kind of line work and motif(animistic and totemic iconography) in your more fragmented and psychedelic style.

I love it! The subject fits your style. Why don't you try making it like they do on their walls before? A sequence of stories about gods, blood sacrifices and their life?

Another great one. Animal-like poses with man-like faces. Makes me think of Alaskan natives. Was there a significance of 3 fingers (toes?)?

i totally dig your reproductive, tributary, creations~~but then again i'm a big fan of this old skewl style~~~this uncomfortable style seems to compliment your traditional techniques quite well, and the two styles compliment one another extremely well~~~with time all creative experiences display their reasonable beauty~~~enjoy the moments as they pass~~~thanks for sharing~~~

Wow. Very bold lines and vibrant colors. You should definitely explore this style more, you seem to have a natural affinity for it. Your other work is very very awesome as well. I do love the political art.

Mix mash and keep improving upon...
I've gotta admit that this somewhat geometric & symmetrical style has always intrigued me a lot. Then again I do fractals, so that's not exactly unexpected.
It's good, and i'd like to see the two mixed together.

i like this style , but that doesn't mean that you stop working and making pieces using your old style since it's really fantastic
but your new style is kinda mixing the 2 ...so to hell .do what ever you feel like doing , cause it's beautiful both ways.

i think your gay and you should address that first and foremost.I think you should grow a penis too.
I dig this,on a bigger scale would be epic. And you would look great with a penis.

Oh, Ireland; you and your smut. No I am not gay, and I have absolutely no problem with anyone who is, and if I were to have a penis (and admittedly, I would look magnificant), it certainly would look nothing like the one featured in your link, seeing as I am Jewish and therefore would require a bris.

I was thinking that, too much chicken skin on his knob.I wish I was Jewish.Although I hear circumcision lessens sensitivity.
I wonder could I get the snip at the ripe old age of 23?

No circumcision! Please please please! Foreskins are hot!

They are definitely hot! Honestly, if I ever have a boy I'm having a home birth, because doctors here are obsessed with this completely unnecessary (and frankly, quite frightening) procedure. My Dad had to physically remove my little brother from the hands of two different doctors to let him keep his. He wound up having to take him home from the hospital early, just to keep him intact! Honestly, there's this circumcision mania in North America that completely baffles me. Why would anyone want to remove a beautiful and critical part of the penis, other than to suppress the boy's sexuality and mutilate his sexual organ? That's definitely NOT something that turns me on.
Foreskins serve several important functions, and so many things can (and often do) go wrong in circumcisions that I honestly think we as a species should move beyond it. Complications can range in severity from simple malapposition (an easy mistake to make when there's so much blood everywhere), to skin-bridges, skin-tags, scarring, unevenness, excessive skin removed, varicose veins, galloping gangrene and even death.
Here's a link to a gallery of malapposition photos (be warned, obviously there are pictures of penises! lol). From there, you can find links to galleries of photos depicting the other ways circumcision gets screwed up.
Compare those horribly mutilated penises (even the less unsightly ones would still look better with no surgery at all!) to photos like this taken by a fellow deviant here:
No contest. Intact penises are ALWAYS hotter

I have to say (not having been folowing you for all that long and therefore not having been previously connected to your ' old style' that this is working really well...the colours work well together and the image is well balanced, I personally find it very pleasing aesthetiaclly...I'd keep it up, the work which feels a little uncomfortable is usually the work that rpoduces the best results in the end!

I think this style is quite fresh and imaginative, yet I must say I find your old style much more appealing.

octopusmandolin In reply to Roekkum [2008-05-27 09:01:51 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for the feedback! My old style was certainly much easier because I didn't need to look at references or study anything; it just came from inside. The new stuff is a lot cruder because I'm still not comfortable with it. Ultimately, after some more practice, I'm hoping to combine the new and the old. We'll see how it goes
