Finally I'm back on track with these doodles - Ditto's simplicity let me get it done like a whole two days in advance, so now I can put my feet up and work on some other stuff! I love Ditto. Haha, aww, thank you so much! Ditto is such a squidgy lil friend. I loved Pokémon Snap, I really hope the fact that Matsuda is interested in the idea of revamping Snap means we'll be getting a second Snap game in future!

Ooh, I'm curious now! What about them do you think isn't well thought out? I've never really heard any critique on Ditto as a concept so yeah, I'm interested to hear how you feel about them.

Well... It's kind of you know... just a pink blob with a face. Although I must say the design is catchy, there's not much inspiration behind it. Snorlax is a similar example. Others include voltorb, electrode, muk, grimer etc.

I suppose that's true, although I quite like the implications of Ditto's design and stuff (in terms of it originally being only found in Cinnabar Mansion, its shiny being blue, its weight and balanced base stats being identical to Mew's). It may not be particularly complex but I think there's a little more to it than, say, Grimer. Grimer is a sentient pile of sludge and its design begins and ends there. But to me, I think Ditto is more interesting because it's clearly a man-made Pokémon, it's been manufactured by humans and it's almost barely a Pokémon at all, just a lump of cellular jelly, and it can only take any kind of form by mimicking that of others. I guess I really like the idea behind Ditto as the failed experiment, and I guess I can't imagine a design for Ditto that wouldn't be some variation upon 'amorphous pink blob'. Having a proper form of its own would detract from its concept, in my opinion at least?

but copied. Like they trying to make mewtwo and failed.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about, they're failed attempts to replicate or clone Mew. That still counts as man-made, by my book at least, haha.
