PokeddeXY Day 11, Favourite Ground-Type: Flygon!I'm just getting further and further behind with these, haha. But here at long last is Flygon, whipping up a sandstorm! Flygon's such a curious Pokémon, really - its evolutionary chain is so strange! There was honestly a period of time where I didn't realise it was Trapinch's final evolution. Yet again, we see my bias towards thick tails with ornaments and/or stripes, long necks and pudgy bodies with pudgy legs and tiny arms. I swear before PokeddeXY I didn't realise how many of my faves share a body type. Ampharos, Breloom, and now Flygon...

Yeah I understand how Trampinch and Flygon go as far as first and last evoloution, but Vibrava... I'll just say she could've had a bigger connection to Trampinch- they don't look alike at all!

Aww, thank you so much!! It's funny you should mention that, a linework tutorial is one I've had in the works for a while now. I can't promise it'll be uploaded soon (tutorials often take me forever, I spend too long fussing about the details, haha) but I will definitely get that made and uploaded at some point in the future! c:

I love the way you add in extra parts on the bodies of the Pokemon you draw, like if the Pokemon was more realistic. What with the claws on the feet, more muscle tone, and the wings looking like they actually have bones in them. 
Also, I was confused at Trapinch's evolution line when I first saw it as well. 
So that explains why Trapinch becomes a dragon type, while still looking like a bug.

I have a lot of fun re-interpreting aspects of Pokémon to make them a little more realistic - Flygon's footless feet always kind of bothered me in their toelessness so... xD The wings in particular were a challenge because they're so uniformly diamond-shaped in the official art and I didn't want to lose the rough shape of them in my version.
I didn't actually know that! That makes the whole line make a lot more sense.

Oh wow, this is too cool! Ah, I really like how you drew Flygon, his pudgy body/tiny T-rex arms XD I like how you did the lighting for this one, and the wings look really awesome, like a cross between a Pterodactyl and a T-rex almost, y'know? XD I also like how you made the eye kinda inside the red part of the eye, because to me, it usually looks like the eye is on the red part, so it looks cool to see it maybe be surrounded by a red glass thingy, maybe to help it see... kinda like Ampharos' tail, almost XD
Y'know what I just noticed? In all 3 pics of your faves(Ampharos, Breloom, and this one), it looks as if they all have some kind of red glass-looking thing on them, y'know? Like, Ampharos' tail tip has the red glass ball, Breloom looks like its' fingers and toes are glassy and red, and now Flygons' eye is almost the same, y'know? XD I have strange logic, I'm sorry XD

I never really noticed it, either, until you mentioned favorites XD I do have to say, stuff like that can just be so bizarre, I sometimes just have to stop and think sometimes, and how similar things can be to one another in the term of favorites. Like, if you have one character from one game, then another from another game, and they have these similarities to each other? Same with characters in the same game, there could always be similarities, it's just bizarre sometimes, y'know? XD
