Description
I played around with inking this guy in Corel Painting, and hopefully he'll have some color soon.Really boring pose and all that but....it was the only pose I could do that didn't seem anatomically wonky.
Constructive Criticism always welcome.

This is a super excellent link I really REALLY love the face! The only glaring mistake I notice is the leg closest to us. it slmoast seems like you went too wereish on it with such a defined calf muscle and taper to the knee. I would round up and streamline both lines like the right back leg :3 other than that s'good!

okay, let me think about this.
The body and limbs were first outlined with the Wet Camel Hair Oil brush. Then, I went over the outline AGAIN with a Round Camel Hair Oil brush. I also used the round camel brush for details. I used the oil blender to taper the lines between tufts of fur.
When I made my second pass along the outline with the round camel brush, I only added thickness along the 'outside' of the cat unless I was creating a shadow dripping inward. This gives the smilodon 'weight' and creates an interesting effect with the fur that I cannot describe. I paid special attention to the bottoms of feet and the limbs when adding thickness.
You can also add thickness to areas where you would expect a stark shadow, such as our kitty's armpit. A lot of artist simplify that rule to say: Where ever two lines intersect, you thicken those lines around the point where they meet (you can see this on the mountains.)
I used rounded camel hair to create muted lines of detail on the cat. I'm talking about the lines around his shoulders, his rib cage, knees, ankles, etc. This is also what I used to do the entirety of the background.
This may have been more than you were expecting but goddamnit, I love inking my work too much and I want to share the fun! Lol!

I see improvement in your lineart, it is smooth and detailed, with details that make the drawing more interesting. About the character, I think it looks quite steady and adding some movement would make it much better.
It's nice to see new works from you Outward Cx

This looks really nice! The legs look really good(I absolutely love how you did the paws), but there's something that needs a bit changed because the legs look much bigger than the actual body. The nose should be much wider and longer, because the skull looks even bigger than a lion one, and talking about the body, the ribcage looks really small compared to the head. Looking at the smilodon skeleton will help you notice what I'm trying to point out: [link]

Thankyou! I was really hoping for a comment like this.
I haven't done much detailed coloring yet, but the colors I blocked out thus far for the smilodon were patterned off of a cougar. However, the face is already looking too much like a puma's and I couldn't comprehend why. I have limited internet access right now so I eyeballed a couple photos of jaguars for the muzzle and nose.
Are you saying that I just need to make the nose itself longer and wider, or the entire muzzle? Maybe pull the muzzle down a bit and draw a larger nose?
No wonder this kitty is posing so nicely for this picture, I didn't know that sabre tooths had such big heads! haha
Thanks!!

The muzzle is fine, the fangs need to be a bit longer and yeah, you can try and lower the muzzle and make the nose bridge wider

I've always enjoyed your lineart and this one is quite appealing. I personally love sabertooth cats and this line art really does them justice!
