I absolutely adore Angela Carter and I think your illustrations are really well suited to her style of writing. Were these illustrations actually made for a collection of short stories by her, or were the works simply inspired by the stories?
Really well done.

Thanks very much - I'm glad you like these - I've been thinking about revisiting them again. I made these as part of a project in college, which I may pursue again in the future.

you should! Returning to old ideas often sparks amazing results. You never know what your subconscious mind has been brewing all this time.

Wow, this is so intriguing. I've never heard of Angela Carter. But I am reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Unleash the Night, which is about a preternatural tiger who can shapeshift into a human and falls in love with a woman.

It's actually an old version of the Beauty and the Beast story from Asia - Angela Carter was an author who adapted old fairy stories into adult fairytales with commentaries on modern life and sensibilities. I might look into this Unleash the Night - it sounds interesting.

That's really cool. I'll have to look into Angela Carter.
Aside from what I told you, Unleash the Night might not have as much in common with Carter's story than what you might be thinking. It's a paranormal romance and it takes place in modern New Orleans (before Katrina). Sherrilyn Kenyon's work is quite extensive; she has a whole world full of shapeshifters and demi-gods and supernatural people that is more elaborate than most other authors' work from the same genre.
