Interesting fact: The Force-Sensitive inhabitants of Dathomir; both Native and Exiled, managed to tame the Rancors as their mounts, however, the Rancors would only allow females to ride on them due to an oral-story that has been passed down by the Semi-Intelligent Rancors of Dathomir over the generations. The story goes that a Female human warrior (Most likely the exiled Jedi Knight Allya: the founder of the Witches of Dathomir) found a wounded Rancor and healed her, the two would develop a symbiotic relationship: with the Rider enabling the Rancor to hunt more game, and the Rancor allowing the Rider to travel greater distances on her back. The Rancors managed to learn to do complex tasks: from creating primitive weapons and armor to even learning how to write.

Ah ok thank's
Yet I read this book (and all the novels published in French) at least twice and perhaps more ^^, but I can't remember the story you have mentioned here.
I remember mostly what happens in this story and it's on the planet Dathomir.

GOD! I just love Dathomir, read this book and It'll make you believe in (a different method of) The Force. I also reccomend the movie Ewoks: the Battle for Endor: it is the first (and only) appearance of a Dathomir-born Force User in live-action movie history (excluding Darth Maul, who was also originally from Dathomir according to The Clone Wars animated series)
