yeah, it was just a nasty goth-type phase i was going through at the time .. i think this is the last remaining undeleted remnant (i'm still pleased that it's technically not too bad) ..

thanks, but nowhere near as narly as the images that ~ninjakittykat (now a banned deviant, i think) sent me of her own, for real, staples, in gloriously macro closeup ..

Being who I am I think this looks like fun...staples to the stomach, a bloody wound that will heal into a scar and no one will want to ask why or when or how...Being open to so much emotional pain, I have always found most physical pain quite bearable...I've always been the girl that lets everyone smash her hands with their fist as hard as they coule or let them hit my hands with rulers just because I feel the pain but I don't care, it doesn't bother me much at all. I guess you can say I'm kind of tough...even if that isn't really what it is..just something I cannot explain

anywho seems I have ruined your comment page with another long and unbearable rant >< I am really sorry about that please forgive me...just really liked this picture as well

no, you haven't ruined it at all .. i love comments like this .. really .. most devartists get resposes like 'cool' or 'awesome', but your responses are personal, and you describe how and why an image affects you .. it's quite a compliment. thanks!

i've been thinking of redoing this one, or something similar, as another deviantartist sent me some hi-res images of her own staples.

Beautiful. I always had this fantasy-like daydream where i'd pierce pairs of piercings down my side and lace them up like a corset(i saw your other deviation as well). This one kinda attracts me as well

awesome job!

Offering In reply to Angel140 [2006-01-20 04:51:54 +0000 UTC]

thanks!
since i posted these i've had notes from deviants pointing me in the direction of images of people who had the 'corset piercings' for real. i was also lucky enough to be sent some high quality images of staples that a deviantartist took of her own staples .. i'm saving them for a time when i feel comfortable doing the darker types of manips again .. which maybe never, maybe tomorrow.

This is incredible. I have alot of scars myself, and am quite proud of my neuro-surgery scars on my stomach, but they're nothing like this! [link]
I'm jelous! I've got scars everywhere, including on my head after having a hole drilled in it, but I want more!
Amazing piece, very alluring, really quite sexy,

and, erm, it's not real .. but thanks for the link to your own scars .. i'm thinking about doing a few more of these, as Ninjakittykat sent me some brilliant images of her own staples.

and, can i ask why you had a hole drilled in your head?
i've seen skulls that have been trepanned ..

Jezebells-Angel In reply to Offering [2005-11-21 22:54:42 +0000 UTC]

Ha! Wow, my whole family teases me about being trepanned, but no-one else has ever even thought of it! Hehe!
I had meningitis hydrocephalus at 3months old- I have a shunt- a small plastic lump- in my head, attached to my brain, and a long plastic tube that stretches from my head to the scars on my stomach.
I've had this surgery 4 times in 15 years.
Rather impressive I think!

Very good job. I so do like. Hell, the only thing is that I know exactly what it's like to have staples in your belly. I had a emergency cesarean May 10, 2001. For my son London to get here.

i watched my wife get two epidurals for the birth of our son, as he decided to roll over at the last minute, meaning a 'spine to spine' birth, which the doctors described as 'an impossible pain' ..

Zoethebfe In reply to Offering [2005-09-05 03:10:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I had to have the epidural fully dialated and all. I was having a illergic reaction to some meds that they gave to me. So yeah. The Spine to spine...okay lets just say it's not easy what-so-ever.

very simple, creative and smart idea you had with this. The greatest manipulation, is simple stuff not the type that is not 30 images trying to blend. I like it alot you have made a very nice job of the blending. I look forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Yea, that is always the case,I don't think that I get comments on my old work. I just seen this piece you did and thought I would leave a comment to tell you I liked it my focus has always moved its a part of maturing . you might like one sort of thing but next year you'll have left it behind, and the more you grow as an artist the more it will fall behind as you grow and develop your new skill and style. your welcome by the way

was this the photo you were talking about? its really nice. it looks seamless.. which is great.. but id have to suggest that this photo would be a lot cooler if you had more concept behind it.

yeah, this is the one.
partly this was experimentation with blending, so you're right, it's concept-challenged.

it looks soooo real, how did you do that?

Very good work!

Offering In reply to Talita [2004-09-26 20:26:25 +0000 UTC]

Open an image (in this instance, the tummy).
Open another image (this time, the staples), and drag this image on top of the first one. now change the blend mode of this layer to 'linear light', then open up the 'hue/saturation' dialogue box, and move the 'saturation' level mostly to the left, and the 'lightness' level.. well, just experiment until it looks right to you.

then, with a nice and really soft eraser brush, take out what's not wanted.

recently, though, i've been experimenting with another technique that's been posted as a tutorial on t-gar's deviantart site.

hope this helps, if there's anything which seems unclear, please ask!

Don't mind the quick shudder before I say 'ow. Really really ow.' And also that this is very well done. Very seamless, which is one of the hardest parts, I think, in photo manips. And then another 'ow.'

Beautiful work. Consider it faved.
