Vali was a child when he was turned into a wolf, he never turned back. But I do like this design as though he did grow up.

It's Odin's son, Vali. You must mistake him with Loki's son who was also named Vali. Vali (Loki's son) was turned into a wolf and killed his own brother as a punishement for Loki.

Yeah. But there are a bunch of inconsistencies in the Eddas, because centuries and monks. I wouldn't be surprised if Snorri forgot the actual name of either of them, and just put it down.

You are correct Thor does a have hammer, a very special one....so much so it has a name. However, saying that another God doesnt use a god is like saying Apollo cant use a Bow because Artemis uses one. The weapons that are in the myths are based on the weapons the people who worshiped them used. Norse used hammers, axes, bows.... so it isnt uncommon for more then one god/goddess to use the same weapon.
