Description The line-art is by =mistakendestiny with minor alterations by me (one is easily noticeable if you look at his version). This attempt at coloring line-art is mostly just to see how well I can do it before looking to tutorials for help. I didn't expect anything fancy to result from this, just that I learn from it and apply what I learn to the next one.

Next time I'll be sure to make more use of masks for coloring the layers because I like using Gaussian Blur a lot but that requires there be color around the thing I'm blurring otherwise it will make the border areas become transparent. Masks will also make fixing other mistakes easier, so I definitely need to do that when I try this again. Another thing I think I should do is get all the base colors decided on and set before starting shading/highlighting and texturing, so things don't stall before I'm done... just at the beginning.

Everything was done in various versions of Photoshop.

Thank you!
I'll try and find more lineart to color *somewhat* soon. I have college and another project before doing a side-project .

Oh, I hear ya. Uni is killing my free time. No time for art or games. Thankfully this week is the last week of actual classes. I may be able to get my current picture done sometime this month.

Next week is my last for the semester, then after 2-3 weeks I start back up again...
I'll have much more free time next semester thankfully, just one class during both spring and summer sessions . (just enough to keep working there, no more, no less)

Thank you, for the comment and the fav . Coloring is **fairly** easy, drawing is what I need really get good at!

All in due time. I have many other skills that need mastering as well. All in due time.

... Heh, this picture has probably around 30 layers or something! If it wasn't for being able to make "folders" it would have been nearly impossable to keep track of what I was doing!

Yep, I'll be looking for tutorials now, in my spare time (just not implementing them until I have other things done). Honestly, the class that I'm the most behind in is Photoshop!

It's heavily digital photography oriented, which I didn't know before switching from just sitting in on the class to actually being a part of the class. I don't have my own camera so I can only use the one available to me if I stay near home... kinda limits what I can take pictures of (even if I was good). That and I don't like only being able to modify what has already been made and not being able to make anything from scratch... especially when my photos all suck so I have to rack my brains figuring out how I'm going to use my photos to do the assignments. It's pure evil I tell ya, but I'm learning a lot in the class, even if my grade is probably not looking so hot.

mmm...cool. ^_~ yeah, ur right about the nature colors thing, i was thinking he would have green/brown clothes. however, with an elf i supposed you could use other colors as well, such as red and yellow (tho yellow can be bad for shading, it gets yucky when it goes darker). his right wrist pad could be the same color as the other pads. and his shin pads as well.

if you wanna use the gausian blur, i would suggest making a smallish selection that stays away from linework (say, if you were blurring the coloring of an arm, select a part in the middle of the arm), blur it, and then use the air brush to soften and blend the edges with the rest. if you're going to go for tutorials after this, i would recommend the tutorials by =kawaiiyume ^_~

yay! finish it soon so i can fav it ^_^
