Specificity:

  • largest ship class of the IJN

  • like the Dakara-Class of the IUSP and the Man'zil-Class of the FJN, the Mit'ras-Class is primarily used for the development and expansion of state infrastructure in the so-called "wilderness"

  • unlike these other two classes of city ships, but like the Cor-Domum-Class of the CLC, the Mit'ras-Class does not support the construction of colonies in a direct and especially not in a constructional way

  • that is, the Dakara/Man'zil class sends technical personnel/engineers to the new colonies, especially those without stargates, in addition, these two city ship classes produce the locally required building materials on site

  • the city ships of the FJN and IUSP are thus directly and immediately involved in the construction measures in the colonies and do not only serve as starting bases/space ports for colony ships/supply ships

  • the Mit'ras class, on the other hand, does not participate directly in the building of the FJE's colonies

  • although technical personnel can also be sent from these city ships to a colony for support, this measure is rather the exception in the Jaffa Empire

  • the task of the Mit'ras-Class is that of a temporary space port as well as to coordinate the military/political/technical measures accompanying such an expansion

  • the actual construction work is carried out by a fleet of colony, construction and supply ships, for which the Mit'ras-Class, as mentioned, only serves as a temporary base

  • however, the Mit'ras-Class is not only responsible for the measures in one sector, as is the case with the Dakara- and Man'zil-Classes, but is responsible for all expansion measures in a complete sector cluster*.

*this is a space cube with an edge length of 3 sectors each, so a total of 27 sectors

  • i.e. the administrative, organisational and transport measures of the colonisation of the "wilderness" play the main role in the deployment of the Mit'ras-Class, while the construction measures have little or no impact

  • what has just been said about the Mit'ras-Class also applies to the Cor-Domum-Class of the Covenant

  • besides the expansion of the Jaffa Empire, Mit'ras-class ships are also used as imperial yachts

  • this means that the imperial government uses the city ships as a mobile seat of government on longer trips and/or political summits.

  • this is a task also undertaken by the Nation, Union and Covenant city ships,

  • however, the rule for the other three classes of city ships is that a city ship is only used for this purpose if necessary, but as rarely as possible

  • the actual areas of responsibility are considered too important for a city ship to be unnecessarily distracted from these tasks

  • the governments of the FJN, the IUSP and the CLC therefore prefer the conventional flagship classes (Sa'far-, Asgard- and Bellunavis/Vector-Class) for travel by members of the executive and the legislature

  • only when the situation requires it for diplomatic or practical reasons do representatives of the FJN/IUSP/CLC governments use city ships as a means of transport

  • for short journeys, especially on imperial territory, the FJE government also prefers to use conventional ships, mostly Ha'taks for reasons of prestige, but also Mah'arib-class ships if necessary.

  • Nevertheless, five Mit'ras-Class ships are kept on standby at all times as imperial yachts.

  • a ship for the Senun'Nai (supreme system lord) himself and his "imperial household" (the actual government)

  • One ship each for the Talital Prital'met (Council of the System Lords) and the Talme Metal'met (Council of the Lords), the two chambers of the Imperial Parliament

  • the last two imperial yachts of the Mit'ras class serve as reserve as well as security

  • because only the crews, the "travellers" and the security department of the Tal'me Saksha (Imperial Guard) know which of these five ships is currently in operation and which of the High Lords is using the ship

  • as a rule, however, even the imperial heads used the city ships exclusively for very long journeys

  • practically only the Senun'Nai and the "imperial household" regularly use a Mit'ras-Class yacht,

  • because it is the duty of the Supreme System Lord, as the highest representative and symbol of the Empire, to visit the worlds of the Empire regularly to demonstrate unity within the Empire

  • initially, the Senun'nai primarily used the Stargate network for these journeys, but this proved to be impractical in the long run

  • for in this way, the worlds visited had to provide for the Senun'Nai and his companions themselves, which was a heavy burden, especially for smaller worlds

  • therefore, on this official journey through the Empire, the Supreme System Lord and his government now use the Mit'ras-class as a service vehicle, as the supplies on board these ships are normally sufficient for the entire journey, but alternatively the travellers can be additionally supplied by supply ships if necessary

  • the extensive means of communication on board the Mit'ras-Class also make it easier to govern during the journey

  • like the imperial Ha'tak and the Mah'arib-Class, the Mit'ras-Class also has multifunctional areas/ bays on the underside of the ship

  • these can be used for docking and transporting cargo and spaceships or as dry docks (for ships up to the size of the Mah'arib-Class)

  • plus, on the upper side of the Mit'ras-Class, twelve landing bays for ships with the length/width/diameter of a Tar'ad-Class cruiser

  • by default, however, these landing bays are always in use, so they are occupied

  • the largest ships in the complement of a Mit'ras-class ship are stationed here

  • by standard, these are eight Tar'ad-Class cruisers as heavy escort ships

  • as well as four Taltasakme-Class ships, the civilian version of the cruiser based on the Tar'ad-Class hull.

  • the Taltasakme Class is completely unarmed, the space thus freed up on board is used for additional cargo capacity and sensors as well as a much more powerful sub-light propulsion system

  • these ships serve as supply ships for their mother ship as well as "shuttles"

  • because, a special feature of the Mit'ras-Class, compared to the Man'zil-/Dakara-/Cor-Domum-Class, is the fact that the imperial city ship is in principle also capable of landings on planets

  • but, unlike the other three classes of city ships, the Mit`ras-Class is not able to land in liquids, but lands on solid ground (landing on land instead of in water).

  • with a footprint of about 23 million m² or 23 km² (23020804 m² to be exact), however, it is quite difficult to find a suitable landing site

  • therefore, in practice, the Mit'ras-Class usually remains in orbit or hovers at an altitude of 100 m or more above the visited planet (whether over water or land is irrelevant)

  • people and material are exchanged with the planetary surface either via ring transporters or the Taltasakme-class ships

  • although the numerical ratio between the Tar'ad-Class and the Taltasakme-Class varies depending on the situation, ships of these classes are always on board as a complement to all Mit'ras-Class ships

  • the five city ships used as imperial yachts are exclusively equipped with at least one ship of the Taltasakme-Class, which has representation rooms instead of cargo rooms

  • these serve as a passenger shuttle for the Senun'Nai and the other important passengers

  • as with the Man'zil-Class, the armament of the Mit'ras-Class, heavy as it may seem, must be considered moderate in relation to the size of the ship and the standards of the IJN
