Description

First of all, the most important thing. I was never happy with the design of the Jaffa Nation's Sa'far-class fleet carriers.  I therefore replaced my design with the much better looking Ha'chek class by .

This way to the original model: www.deviantart.com/vaylenisme/…

Thank you again, , for letting me use your designs in my headcanon too.

Sa’far-Class:

Affiliation: Free Jaffa Nation(FJN)/ Jaffa Nation Navy(JNN)
Typ: Fleet-Carrier
Length: 2129 m
Width: 1544,4 m
Height: 392,7 m
Engine unit(s):
Sublight engine: Empal'tel Ellrupalka Katame
Hyperdrive: Empal'tel Ellpalpalna Katame
Hyperdrive system: interstellar
Shield System: Empal'tel Artal Ar’Jaf
Armament:

120x Empal'tel Na'kekell (Standard Staff Turret), cal 420 mm

40x Ab’Bet Tyamka (Lances Cannon), cal 300 mm
Complement (maximum):
pure transport mission, only one type of spacecraft (only internal hangars):
8000x Death Glider (four hundred squadrons) or320x Qu'Tal'Kesh or Al’kesh (sixteen squadrons)
Standard Complement:
extremely variable, but a standard hangar equipment could be established in the JNN:
600x (thirty squadrons)
60x Qu'Tal'Kesh or Al’kesh (three squadrons)
Role:

multifunctional multi-purpose vessels, can be extremely adapted to the respective tactical and strategic situation, therefore only examples are possible here, for all the roles a Pendergast-Class can fulfil:

fleet flagship

carrier

high precision planetary bombardment

fighting enemy forces

protection of trade routes

performing special missions

support for allied units (space and planetary)

mobile garrison/outpost

transport of planetary force vehicles

long-range artillery support for ground forces

mining ship

tender (heavyweight tugboat)

supply ship

hospital ship

etc.

Cargo Capacity: 12.750.000 m³ (distributed over several storage rooms)

standard troop transport capacities: 12x Sha (Sha = Goa'uld: Army = 14000 warrior)

additional troop transport capacity: 36x Sha (if the hangars are converted exclusively for troop transport)

Specificity:

  • largest, regular spaceship class of the Jaffa Nation Navy

  • like all ships of the fleet carrier type, the Sa'far-Class is a multifunctional, multi-purpose ship equipped with "shape wall" technology.

  • but, like the Republic Ha'taks, the Sa'far-Class does not have hangar decks, each of which extends over an entire deck

  • this is because the fleet carriers of the JNN also have several smaller hangars (Sa'far:5; Ha'tak 3) grouped around the central structures of the ship (propulsion and computer systems, etc.) in the middle

  • this very conventional design concept distinguishes all JNN carrier ships from the more modern carrier ship designs of the other factions

  • and as with all ships of the Jaffa Nation, but also with the ships of the Jaffa Empire, the direct military operational aspect plays a greater role, while non-military operational aspects play a lesser role

  • that is, the Sa'far-Class is used, even more than the Ha'taks, as a mobile base of operations or garrison

  • so, regardless of the hangar configuration, strong aerospace squadrons and ground forces are on board at all times.

  • the transport of these strong forces, which are available on board the Sa'far-Class at strategic locations in space at any time, to crisis areas, the support of their own units in their operations there and their supply are the primary operational tasks

  • however, unlike the IUSP's Pendergast-Class and the CLC's Vector-Class, the Sa'far-Class is less frequently used as a hospital ship or tender and practically never as an armed military freighter.

  • the use as a mobile base also includes the long-range coordination of the fleets and armies of the Jaffa nation within a fixed area (mostly sectors)

  • in addition, the Sa'far-Class has the best long-range sensor and communications array that the FJN can install in a ship.

  • this also further enhances the garrison character of these ships, as these ships also serve as space-based fleet HQs

  • in addition, the Sa'far-class is also designed and equipped as a fleet flagship, a role otherwise only occupied by the Mah'arib-Class of the Imperial Jaffa Navy (IJN)

  • All other factions, however, use battleships with additional flag bridges as flagships

  • with the exception of the IUSP's Asgard class, a battleship designed exclusively for flagship use
  • the use as a flagship is precisely the real reason for the development of the Sa'far class

  • the Ha`tak, as flagships, could not keep up technologically with the increasing number of starships that could be part of a fleet and a battle

  • and as the IUSP developed the Asgard-Class flagships as a solution to this problem, the FJN created the Sa'far-Class

  • but the High Council on Dakara could only partially prevail against the nation's powerful fleet commanders on this issue

  • these still prefer Ha'tak as immediate flagships (that is, in direct combat operations)

  • only the First Fleet Primes (Palem Prime Meya) and the First Army Primes (Palem Prime Tel), as the highest ranking military officers, as well as the members of the Council themselves, actually use the Sa'far-Class as immediate flagships (but more for political reasons than out of genuine conviction)

  • as mobile headquarters, which clearly distinguishes the Jaffa from the flagships*, the Sa'far-Class, on the other hand, are extremely popular, and many Primes actually spend more time on one of their Sa'far ships than in their actual planetary headquarters (if they are entitled to a Sa'far-class ship at all as a Prime, which only applies to Fifth Prime or higher-ranking Prime)

    *(Headquarters = Goa‘uld: Narukatame, Flagship = Goa‘uld: Rukatata )

  • ironically, contrary to their own self-image, the Primes are also more likely to be on Sa'far-Class ships than on Ha'taks, as combat missions requiring the personal presence of a Prime on the front lines have become quite rare over the centuries

  • a major feature of the Sa'far-Class are the massive high-power tractor beam arrays permanently installed on these ships

  • this equipment was to be used to fight the last Goa'uld lords who had entrenched themselves on their mansion worlds, which had been upgraded to formidable fortresses

  • in order to reduce the extreme losses during attacks on such worlds, the Dakara High Council came up with the strange but, in retrospect, brilliant idea of using a kind of battering ram

  • to this end, the spaceships of the Jaffa nation were to be equipped with the best shields and propulsion systems available to the Jaffa

  • in addition, these ships were to receive tractor beam arrays running once around the entire ship, as well as special, structurally extremely reinforced superstructures on the underside, which were equipped with the most powerful tractor beam systems the Jaffas had at their disposal.

  • it quickly became clear that only the then newly introduced Sa'far-Class could meet the space requirements for this equipment and not the Ha'taks

  • the superstructures and tractor beam emitters were and are indeed so powerful that Sa'far-class ships can move many times their own mass, and the shields of Sa'far ships are also still among the most powerful to be found in the Milky Way four centuries later

  • behind these changes was a seemingly crazy tactical idea

  • instead of trying to destroy the massive enemy defences by force of arms in bloody battles to bring the Goa'uld under control, a much rougher tactic was used with these ships

  • the Sa'far-ships use their extremely strong shields and engines to easily break through the defences

  • using the tractor beam emitters, the Sa'far ships simply pulled defensive satellites and smaller ships along with them as they flew through the enemy defences without much concern for combat

  • in this way they created huge gaps in the enemy's defences through which their own fleets could break through relatively easily and quickly.

  • and instead of fighting their way into the Goa'uld palace in even worse ground battles (these were also protected by high-powered shields, so bombardment was usually relatively pointless), the Sa'far-class ships used their tractor-beam emitters like battering rams, first pulling their target towards them with the tractor beam and then reversing the polarity of the emitters so that the target was pushed away.

  • the gravimetric forces exerted on their target by the tractor beam arrays of a Sa'far class can cause massive earthquakes, not to mention the direct physical forces on the target object (following image: enemy space station, palace, etc. = small stone, Sa'far class = powerful jackhammer (the kind that cannot be operated by hand but is mounted on an excavator)

  • by the 4th century AJR, the JNN use this tactic sometimes against massively armoured and protected enemy positions such as orbital defence belts, space stations ect.

  • the use against planetary surfaces, however, in the present time of 4th century AJR, must always be approved first by the insterstellar community, represented by DeSCa, and not only by the FJN government

  • the destruction a Sa'far-CLass can wreak on a planet with this tactic is so enormous that it was accepted against the ancient enemy, the Goa'uld, but four centuries later such an operation is viewed very critically, even within the nation itself

  • in humanitarian disasters (volcanic eruptions, floods), however, this extreme measure is still used, with the Sa'Far class, for example, digging (or tearing) huge holes in the planet for the water to flow into during a flood disaster

  • In any case, however, the approval of the DeSCa General Assembly is necessary for such an operation

  • of course, these tractor beam arrays can also be used for the "gentle" towing of damaged allies

  • or, the lateral tractor beam emitters are used to fix other ships, which can then either be boarded (enemy ships) or repaired (allied ships).

  • however, the repair capacities for other spacecraft available to the Sa'far-Class are quite limited, at least in relation to the fleet carriers of the other major powers (with the exception of the Lucian Alliance).

  • and occasionally these ships are also used for the extraction of raw materials (keyword: asteroid mining (asteroid shaken, not stirred)
