Description I was bored one evening, so I grabbed my DVD of North & South on a whim and sketched Daniela Denby-Ashe in the role of Margaret Hale off of the cover. I'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out, even if my scanner decided it did not like it and made it all pixelated. But at any rate I don't often draw real people from photographs, so this is something different for me.

I love the sketchy style, and you've done quite a good job of capturing her, too! Pity about the scanner, but the grainy effect is quite nice.

Thank you very much! I was pleased when my parents and brother knew who she was supposed to be, hee hee.

Yeah, that's why I prefer to take pictures rather than scans.

What type of scanner do you have? Our Epson has a reset button in the scanner dialogue which generally fixes problems. (for some reason, the scanning program has a mind of its own, and keeps fiddling with the settings....) Of course, trying to scan textured paper never seems to work....

An HP all-in-one. And it does have settings that you can fiddle with (I do) and it does take great scans of certain things, it just doesn't seem to like my drawings!!

Yes, scanners do tend to get huffy around pencil stuff, don't they?

Excellent work -- your pencil work is breath-taking. You make it look easy the way you capture fabrics and clothing too.
