Description
For everyone who wasn't content to play just one instrument. From left to right, suspended cymbal mallets, bassoon, tenor trombone, and a german bow for double bass. One from each category (percussion, woodwind, brass, and strings.) And I do play all four of them, (some better than others.)
I started playing the bassoon about three and a half years ago and whenever any asked what I play, I would say "The bassoon." and the response would almost exclusively be "What's that?" and I couldn't describe what it looks like. Only recently I found a way to describe it. It looks like a giant bong. [link]

And I thought I was good with clarinet, French horn and mellophone...dang...
i feel the pain about people not knowing. Its very degrading to have to explain the mellophone as 'A big trumpet that's 1000 times cooler.'

Pfft. A Mellophone and a French Horn are the same thing, they're just shaped differently. That would be like me saying I play both the Tuba and the Sousaphone.

Mellophone has a different set of fingerings, different partials, different mouthpiece, different sound...
And they have 2 different sections in some marching bands.

I thought it had the same fingerings of a single French Horn. I've never played a double, they're weird.

I tried playing a double, just to see how it works. After about fifteen minutes, I Figured it was all weird and stuff. A single is slightly less weird, but still too weird for me to play it.

Neato stamp!
I'm just a lowly soprano, though. Hopefully my kids will play instruments!

That's soprano voice I presume? Just don't force your kids to practice, that's what makes them not want to.

Yup. I carry my instrument around in my mouth.
Abby's starting the violin and since she's so little, I only ask her to practice 3 times a week instead of every day. Forced practice is what made me give up piano. Hopefully we'll work something out when she's older to where she gets the practice she needs without being forced to.
