Well, sounds like my piece wasn't exactly like your idea (giant flea?  Why?), but that's pretty wild!

I drew this soon after I first saw the design for Splinter's action figure.  I think he looks a lot more rodent like in the TV show than I would have expected after seeing the toy.

haha, well, I thought the action figure prototype looked like a llama!

But his look in the cartoon has actually grown on me as I've watched the episodes.

Thank you, Tina. I really do appreciate such detailed feedback on my art!

When I don't do backgrounds, I do try to think about getting the color right. The Emperor's New Groove connection came about through an observation somebody else made that Splinter looked a little like a llama. I really enjoyed doing this piece, and I hope to do more Nickelodeon "Mutation in Progress" parody pictures in the future.

You're very welcome about the feedback and birthday wishes, is really a pleasure to look at it and it won't be the last time I will enjoy your comic. It's interesting how character's looks can change from show to show; llama Splinter can surely be considered as mutation. ^^

The different writing styles are a nice sight, too. You have an awesome gallery, I'm sure future drawings will be the same.

No, I don't think he's trying to mislead fans intentionally. But I think he probably doesn't know much about the franchise or its history so he is naturally confused. In addition, he probably appreciates the controversy that has erupted over his statements as well; it creates buzz for the film that money can't buy. He isn't directing, so he probably won' make the final call on story either.

But even if the Turtles turn out to be aliens this time around, that fact alone doesn't bother me that much. I've seen so many incarnations of the TMNT that I've become fairly tolerant of new ideas and new twists. So I'll just wait and see what we get come Christmas 2013.

Yeah, yer right, kidding or not, Ninja Turtles is Ninja Turtles, alien or mutant, or otherwise for that matter.
And given how awesome his Transformers trilogy was, i have high hopes that he'll apply that level of epicness there, too. And as you also pointed out, the coment of his has created quite a public stir, getting folks attention like yeah'. So who knows, maybe he was kidding, maybe he isnt...

Yeah, I also like the Nickelodeon 3D character model better than the Playmates Toys prototype. I'm excited to see this series premiere later this year!

It's suposs to air after the kids'choice awards on the 31th! So I'll have to watch that to make sure.

It's pretty close to the first photos released of his action figured based on the new show, but the official animation models look a bit different. He has less white fur on his face and has a very solemn and stoic demeanor. He's very tall, which is a cool change, but I still think he looks a little bit like a llama!

Yes, that upper right panel came out really nice! I was worried how I'd differentiate the bottom right panel so I came up with the idea to give him wacky eyes.

I hope to do another Nick's "Mutatin in Progress" comic in the coming weeks with another character who will be undergoing a substantial design change.

i hate the fact that they made April 15 or something
and cleary shes going to be a love interest to the
turtles, Don probably.. and they made spliter look
like a fricken red panda [link] !!
and im pretty sure two of the turtles weapons have been
changed, i think it was don and mikeys, i think(i read
it somewhere).. and is casey jones even going to be
