Description
Fairey Firefly F Mk.INo. 1770 NAS aboard HMS Indefatigable
This specific aircraft, marked N/278, serial unknown, was flown by Lt. D. Levitt. After the Indefatigable sailed to the pacific, he scored 1770's first 'kill' against a Ki-43 on 4th January '45
Later that month, he was killed over Palembang (Sumatra) during an attack on japanese oil refineries.
I have to admit that the Firefly (but only the Mk.I with the large air intake) is one of my favourite WW2 aircraft in terms of looks. In combination with the FAA pacific camo and roundels this aircraft is just gorgeous.
