15th May 1940: Pierre Le Gloan and squadmate Cpt. Assolant attack 12 italian Fiat CR.42s over Saint-Raphael (Southern France) and manage to shoot down 4. Le Gloan later became an "Ace in a Day" (Hence the title) in just 40 minutes.

He continued flying under the Vichy regime, became the only ace to fight againt Germans, Italians and Brits. He was killed 11th September 1943, when his P-39 exploded after a failed belly landing. He had scored 18 victories in total
