JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MICROSOFT POINTS!

I like the chainsaw, but the Retro Lancer has more damage and the bayonet kills faster.

one of the popular ones: the lancer. sucks that we're going to use the Retro Lancer the most in gears ofwar 3. this is some wicked details!

OliverBrig In reply to jjb2kEruantion [2011-03-27 17:52:59 +0000 UTC]

No this is hand built, lots of small files a miniature table saw and an abundance of cursing.

I started doing this kind of work before digital modeling became so prevalent. I'm actually learning it now but almost everything in my gallery is done by hand. And thanks for the awesome vote

OliverBrig In reply to ScopeSearch [2010-08-26 23:54:24 +0000 UTC]

No , 1 to 1 would be fun but huge. This was in scale with a twelve inch figure.

This a model to scale?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OliverBrig In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2010-02-04 20:37:51 +0000 UTC]

It is in scale with a twelve inch figure. They did make a 36" lancer as well, some kind of special promotion I think.

OliverBrig In reply to zac8 [2010-01-19 22:49:56 +0000 UTC]

I made it from scratch, I used to work for the company that makes Gears figures and that's the prototype for the gun that comes with the figures. Glad you like it

ToolUsingAnimal [2009-02-08 01:43:46 +0000 UTC]

what do you make these out of? looks like bondo-y paper mache...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OliverBrig In reply to ToolUsingAnimal [2009-02-08 23:04:48 +0000 UTC]

I used modeling board and styrene to make the lancer. I've worked with bondo on larger models but never with paper mache, I don't think you could hold that kind of detail with it.

themikealicious [2008-12-28 12:06:53 +0000 UTC]

your Gears weapons are incredible!
how did you do it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OliverBrig In reply to themikealicious [2008-12-28 19:50:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks I have a small machine shop in my studio and try to machine anything on a model that would be do that way if it were real. It's pretty hard to sculpt something that's not an organic shape so the lathe and mill help get the look right.

1993-MARCO [2008-11-26 06:33:48 +0000 UTC]

I am completely impressed by the detail you have done on this piece, it looks completely similar to the to the original one, you keep every detail on his place, but can I ask you something?, what kind of material you use to make your models and what kind of tools?, I feel a bit curious to know, oh and by the way, sorry if I faved this picture twice, I accidentally removed but I add it to my faves again, this piece of art-work is completely amazing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OliverBrig In reply to 1993-MARCO [2008-11-29 06:39:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the compliment. I use a lot of styrene plastic and modeling board (it's a very dense urathane foam) to build most of my models. As for tools I have a lathe a mill and all kinds of saws and sanders. I do a lot of hand fileing and sculpting as well. Pretty much what ever I can to get the right shape.
