Gene Roddenberry was one of my all-time favorite sci-fi creators, along with Gerry Anderson and Irwin Allen.

Mine as well!

Though, Verne and Wells much earlier did a hell of a lot to put science fiction in the imagination of the world.

True.  "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" and "The Time Machine" were some pretty cool sci-fi stories.

Andromenda  and Star Trek in a way are a miror each other in a way.
Star Trek the commonwealth is live and well as the federation.
In Andromenda  is what happen if the federation was destroyed  and being rebuild

As you well observed, when I first got into Andromeda, I also imagined what might happen if the Federation fell, then a heroic figure came back from the dead to restore it.

He would be a pretty cool Starfleet captain.

Just imaged the star trek version of the andromenda  crew?
And which race they would fit as.

That would change the balance of power in the Trek universe wouldn't it?

It's a pretty cool series.

I missed a whole lot of episodes, so I'd love it if Netflix added it.

Two of the finest ships outside of STAR TREK and STAR WARS.  I wish that HULU would get both of these shows.

The smaller ship actually is from Star Trek.

I thought the smaller ship was a WHITE STAR class destroyer from BABYLON 5, not Star Trek.  Maybe I am wrong.

The Romulan ship does look similar to a Whitestar.

I guess the purple-ish color-scheme threw me.  I am used to seeing Romulan ships in a dark shade of green.  Now that I go back and look at it again, I see what you mean.

I'm really not up on all my sci-fi lately so I'm unsure just *what* I'm seeing, but it looks pretty damned good anyway.

OliverInk In reply to CaptainQuirk5 [2018-09-22 19:30:47 +0000 UTC]

The much larger ship is the Andromeda Ascendant, from Gene Roddenberry's tv series "Andromeda".

The smaller vessel is a Romulan ship from Star Trek Online.

Basically, what you see are two scifi universes merging.

Though the question remains, why?

Okay, I remember hearing about the show Andromeda (had the former star of hercules in it, right? Kevin Sorbo or something like that) but never got a chance to watch it.

I blame the quantum mirror imbedded in a moon from SGA: Entanglement (ISBN-10——1905586035)

The “mirror” in question was large enough to pull in a Wraith Cruiser with room to spare...

I wonder who’s next...
Discovery One (2001[1968]) & USS Cygnus (The Black Hole [1979])?
The Liberator (Blake's 7 [1978]) & Hyperion (Starcraft)?
Cavor's Ship (The First Men in the Moon [1964]) & Apollo Lunar Module side-by-side on a moon?
