These characters belong to an infantile dickweed who even wants fanartists to start paying him royalties for drawing his characters. That's not going to happen under the Fair Use law, but he's still an ass who turns even against his own fans. The decisions made by Archie to drop these characters in order to get rid of the attentions of their poisonous creator were made for legal purposes over the past few years. Archie does not make so much money that they can afford an extended legal battle with a whiny bitch like this, even if said whiny bitch is in the wrong, as he made these characters under Archie's license and therefore they should all belong to Archie. A petition will not change this decision. Nor will it suddenly be able to fund further legal battles. It's a sad truth, but deal with it. You still have fan works if you want to explore these characters, but they will never be official again.
I sympathize with all fans of these characters for the loss of any further major storylines involving this jerk's ideas or characters, but they're gone and not coming back, and the best Archie can do now is a full universe reboot, which I really hope they do.
