Based mostly on deep sea dragonfish, but their fins aren't actually so fancy in real life and their bauble actually comes off their throat soooo took some creative liberties for a fictionalized version. c:

Oh yay, I do get to see his other form after all. 8D Β It's actually really cool, I saw a real-life dragon fish (skeleton >w>) right around the time you posted this, so I can appreciate all the more the choices you made to fancy it up for the character, and I approve of all of them. Β You very much nail the magnetic frightfulness of deep-sea creatures, in any case; even as those vicious fangs and glowing eyes scare, they are also unmistakably awesome in their own way, and it makes the design really compelling.

It was indeed cool, part of a larger trip and I took to the Smithsonian. 8D
And yeah, it'd be neat if we ordinary folk could get a closer glimpse at these amazing creatures, but I can imagine there'd be some real problems involved in making a workable environment for them this far from their natural habitat.

The bioluminescence is handled exceedingly well in this particular drawing and the way you've colored everything definitely gives a great sense of depth.

Take ALL the liberties, this came out even better than I dreamt it would! The background, the appealing serpentine that keeps your eye following the designs, the proper shading to show the full twist and turn of the body... *blows kisses at it* Magnefique!

how nightmarish looking, from that terrifying face to the creeping shadows his tail is lurking in.
I like how to have kept his head in the light and not in the shadow, I would thing that could be a very scary thing to see.... shadows with glowy eyes looking out, except there are the baubles too so you might not be able to tell if it has more eyes than it really doesn.
Love the colouring on this as usual Tobi, the baubles look soooo beautiful! X_X. and I really love those gnashers of his!

The real ones are only about six inches long! But for a transformed Vorago, I'll say he's probably closer to thirty five feet. (Most of that is tail though so it's less impressive than it sounds xD )

Ehhh, they're terrifying to me, I have a touch of fear for the ocean and knowing real-life versions of these things areΒ in the water makes me wanna scramble right the hell back out. DB BUT HEY it's Vorago, he doesn't bite...often. >_>
