What kind of tool are you using? This looks good to me. Very pretty picture of Bunnie there. :3 I've just started using a Bamboo tablet myself. Need to make some art for DA...

Pencil at 50% (so it acts more like a real pencil, at Nikki's suggestion).
DOOD YES. I can't wait to see your stuff in shiny digital. x3

I don't know anything about Sai, so can't help much there, I'm afraid. By the looks of this, though, you're getting more confident already. 8D
In terms of using a tablet, I just draw the same line about 20 times and ctrl+z it until it looks okay. But that is time-consuming and there's probably a better way so I wouldn't recommend it. |D I DUNNO JUST PRACTICE

Not being familiar enough with the programs involved, let alone how to use a tablet, I'm afraid I can't help much.
For whatever it's worth, though, it DOES seem like you're making progress. More variety, more detail, lots of really good effects (the feathering you do with some of the hairs on display is very nice)...likewise you're doing some more "cartoony" stuff (the "Aaaa" face in particular) that I don't often see from you, but it looks quite nice.

Ahh my god that Scuff.
And... I might be able to help with SAI but as far as drawing on the tablet my approach was 'do it over and over until I suck less'.

I'd love to help. I have no experience with SAI or a tablet, so I won't be much help there. If it's the art itself you're wanting help on, I might be able to point out some things. Could you give me more info about what you're looking for, exactly?

Omnicenos In reply to Scylothia [2013-01-04 04:07:28 +0000 UTC]
Eh, the 'art' is just practice scribbles to get my hand moving, I would like help with the Sai program, tablet use tips, digital sketching tips and experience, etc.

Can't critique without knowing your opinions on these - what you like, dislike, etc and so on. <_< Though it looks like you do a back and forth to sketch on your reploid there instead of multiple lines in the same direction, but it may be the dark room and me being tired from being up so late whups.

Shinavar In reply to Omnicenos [2013-01-04 19:01:58 +0000 UTC]
When you get on I'll show you what I mean. Easier to just show you visually what it looks like versus me trying to use limited vocabulary to describe it.

I think my biggest thing was, don't be afraid to play with the settings of your pen/pencil/brush, whatever tool you're using. It kept me entertained to the point I did find settings I was comfortable with.
Beyond that, I can offer you my favorite folder just for SAI help: [link]
And then this little link with some tips and brush settings to test: [link]
Hope that helps

Sadly no default button. Something you just keep playing with until you find what you want.

these are looking great so far! do you need help in the software or just help with tablet practise? I don't know the software but I found practising in things like iscribble helped, then my first proper art was with a meme. Though it was a meme it acted as a good first art to go into before actually doing a full on image.

Omnicenos In reply to queenmoreta [2013-01-04 02:07:56 +0000 UTC]
Well, both really. Anything helps. Settings suggestions, techniques, how many sketches to build up from (like I'm used to one REAL sketch but I just watched Tenor draw and she made two before inking so I wonder if that's better or just preference but she isn't currently available)
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
queenmoreta In reply to Omnicenos [2013-01-04 11:20:08 +0000 UTC]
maybe start out with just one and build on from there.
I mean I would suggest starting with something simple since that way of thinking was what I was brought up with. But I used to know someone who would bitch that that's being lazy and you need to start with something complex >.o. so yeah..
Personally I have recently been finding my outlining gets done really quick if I have the rough sketch and thubnails completely sorted . So I think some of it is also experimenting to find which works best for you. Like I like to do the rough sketch and thumbnails traditionally because you get more of a feel, then do the outlines digitally.

Shinavar In reply to Omnicenos [2013-01-04 03:01:49 +0000 UTC]
Preference when I do commissions or am trying something difficult to learn or something. Example: Paon, I did a rough sketch of him because I was deigning him as I went, versus having a per-determined design for him which is why a second sketch was needed for me to make sure my thoughts were clear.- while in Judgement, once I got the pose worked out and anatomy fixed I went straight to inking instead of a second sketch line. So, confidence, I suppose? At times I do it as well when I can't figure out what's wrong and a standard redline doesn't find it for me.
Honestly I say give it a try when you're 100% digital, and even if not? Digital from a sketch can help you possibly gain confidence to just draw without that pre-sketch, if that makes sense. <_< Wouldn't hurt to try and experiential, at least.
