Y'know, it would be really cool if you put the two images on each side of a folding bromide in such way that at first you can only see the first part, and then you pull it out to see one long completed image!

I actually created this for a magazine layout. You would see this part when you turned the page.

Exquisite! I love the fine line detail in the profile, and I think it contrasts quite nicely with the almost "cartoon" style used on the diving figures. The water looks fluid against that rich black background.

I haven't tried scratchboard in years, but seeing this makes me want to do back and work on it some more. Thanks for sharing!

Scratchboard is definitely underappreciated here on DA. That big headed guy really should stop all those guys from jumping in the water...

Gotta love the men in suits jumping into the water! Great shading on all the elements, especially the water.

Yes, you do have to get used to it, but now I almost find easier than the other way round.

Beautiful drawing
I really like the sense of movement--It feels like a new kind of wheel of life. Although it's obviously not.

This is really good! How did you do the water?

Onanymous In reply to Ruth-Tay [2006-06-27 11:48:43 +0000 UTC]

I think I probably used some kind of photograph as an example, but it is only light and shadow after all, so you just have to get used to drawing the light instead of the shade.

The water is drawn very well, drawing this kind of ripples effectively is kind of difficult...I like the shading and crosshatching on his face and the fascinating look in his eyes.
