Thank you so much, this was super helpful! I found with my beyond worn out toothbrush I have to get the brush itself wet and then rub it on the pastel and splatter (or just go and get a new cheap tooth brush!) Thanks again for a fantastic tutorial!

Hey! I gave it a go. Made a little template to keep the specks on the chosen parts of the face though.
I love this tutorial! Thanks!
Here's the template I made on the dolls face. LINK
And here's the end result: LINK

Yays! I tried it out! Here's the experience + completed look: [link]
Once again, I think my execution leaves much to be desired so I think I'll give it another go.
Really nice tutorial by the way.

OMG HATE. It took me so damn long to do Alice's freckles, one by one, by hand with a metal tool and watercolors, and that looks the exact same with the exception that they're not all circles, unlike the ones I did. And I didn't WANT them to be circles! RAEG.
But at least next time I'll know. lol. Props for that, and for those AWESOME eyebrows.
I have a quick question, though; I have some craft quality acrylic gloss, and it never really seems to make it shine much. Any advice or better material suggestions?

any tips on how the consistency of the pastel mixed with water should be?

It depends really, thicker the consitancy, the freckles ar going to be darker, larger and more uniform. If the paste is quite watery, then you wil have much softer freckles, although they will tend to bleed/blend more to the shapes will be less uniform. ^_^

It's a nice method; execution needs some work.
I'm not trying to be rude or anything! Just giving my own input(I'm also not an expert because I'm trying to learn to do faceups) but it kind of looks like he got dirt thrown in the dolls face.

Okay good. I didn't think you were like that, but some people get soarly offended when others try to give their input. Or worse...the fans. Anyhoo I think it's great all besides. Way better than I can do anyways.

This is very helpful, along with the last one, I can now cast my New head mold without fear of screwing up the eyes.
