On the mat is where Carla is most improved and will do her most damage. Harper being relatively new to the gym didn’t factor that in as she wrestled Carla from position to position hoping to control her, but the JSG employee was having none of it.

She bided her time working on the mat defense she’d gained with her past training partners then exploded to life when Harper was in just the right position above her. Carla’s legs snapped up and snared Harper’s head while her hand gripped Harper’s wrist.

But the triangle choke, while beautifully thought out and executed, probably came a bit too early in the match as Harper still had plenty of fight in her. She was able to snatch her arm away and work her way free of Carla’s legs before Carla could really sink things in.

Disaster avoided with the help of some real panic and adrenaline.

Later in the match an it was likely curtains again for Harper, but for now it was just a learning experience.
