Personal
Background:
Ramiel has a long and arduous history. He was born to a prisoner in the cages of Massilia- a Roman city. His mother was half crazed and often abused him and his littermates, both verbally and physically. He and one of his sisters, Alex, managed to escape the city and their mother to join a group of wild cats known as Lightning Empire. He trained and learned from them until he was a young adult, and gained close friends (and even a crush on a cat named Fausta).
Things seemed alright until their camp was laid siege to by Bounty Hunters from Massilia. Among the attacking Hunters was Ramiel's father, Pallis. Ramiel gave himself up to bargain for the halt of the attack. Pallis took him and Alex, but did not cease the attack. Feeling betrayed, Ramiel refused to join his father as a Bounty Hunter. So instead he was kept as a prisoner, with his father and other two long lost littermates visiting him regularly to attempt to change his mind. Ramiel bided his time, and eventually helped his sister Alex to escape back to Lightning Empire. He waited for help to come to him; surely Alex wouldn't let him rot there after having scarified himself for her safety twice? But no help ever came, and Ramiel knew he would die in a cage if he didn't think up a solution. He grew angry; both at Alex and Lightning Empire as a whole for forgetting about him. One day when he was accidentally released into the coliseum fighting arena to fight an already exhausted cat named Leto, Ramiel all but almost killed him, letting his rage get the best of him. Ramiel still thinks back to that day, swearing never to lose himself like that again.
One day he told one of his littermates that he would join the Bounty Hunters so that they would let him out of his cage. They were happy to have him, and he was able to meet other family he didn't know he had; two cousins named Juno and Kaiden. He made some other acquaintances as well, and was given an old cloak from a seasoned Hunter named Alu. Ramiel and Kaiden became good friends, but the reunion wouldn't last. The Roman Bounty Hunter branch needed more cats, so Ramiel was transferred away from his family and new friends.
In Rome, he shut down. He was more quiet, unmotivated. His plan to gain the trust of the Hunters so that he could get outside the walls and escape had backfired, and now he was in an unfamiliar place with no one he knew. He kept to himself and didn't bother with making friends; only with training. His trainer was named Oceanus, and taught him to be a strong Hunter. But Ramiel didn't feel like he belonged here, and told Oceanus that he was leaving. Oceanus agreed to cover for him long enough for Ramiel to get away.
Ramiel left Rome and became a rogue, which in those parts was called Solis. He stayed there, living alone with rarely another cat around, until he felt the need to visit the neighboring groups of wild cats in the area. First he visited Ferox, an empire-like group where he met another relative. Then he visited the Olum, a spiritual group from the mountains. He spent a long time with them, getting to know their beliefs, before leaving them and trekking again toward Lightning Empire. He was curious to know how his sister there was doing, as he had long since forgiven her and let his anger go.
When he had neared the old territories surrounding Massilia, he ran into Kaiden and Fausta, and was surprised to find that his cousin and old crush were running away together. He learned the most recent knews from Kaiden, and changed his destination to Massilia.
A few days later, Ramiel found himself on a ship bound for Egypt, in pursuit of the cat who had given him his cloak. The ship made a few stops along the way. When they stopped at Crete, Ramiel was drawn to a strange location where he dreamt of a cat who looked eerily similar to himself. The strange new cougar/jaguar hybrid called himself The Oracle, and spoke strangely, as if he was part wise and part crazed. He said strange things, then pointed Ramiel toward Egypt.
When Ramiel arrived, he was overwhelmed by the bustling new setting and ran until he found a quiet place to shelter; the Great Library. He was in awe of the place, and a local cat who lived there welcomed him. Ramiel began learning about the land from the cat, and Ramiel pestered them with questions frequently until the cat suggested that he just learn to read the old tomes at the library to quench his thirst for knowledge. And so Ramiel did, and before he realized how long it had been, years had gone by...
----
Personality: Thoughtful, Speculative, Curious, Intelligent, Wise, Sharp, Spiritual
Ramiel is driven by the need for more knowledge; it's the one thing he feels completes him and makes him feel like he belongs and has a destiny. He believes wholeheartedly in divine forces, and loves studying the myths of Egypt's gods. He's sharp as a tack, knowing many things. When he discovers a topic he doesn't know much about, he will pursue it relentlessly, and pick at the brains of other cats who might be more knowledgeable about the topic. He doesn't leave the library much except to hunt down a source of knowledge not present in the library, and when he does he wears his cloak to avoid being stared at too much. Those who may have seen him consider him to be crazy and call him the "Library Hermit".
Likes:
Studying, finding new topics of study, wednesday night trivia, pop quizzes, leaving the library to further his knowledge!
Dislikes:
Defaced books, disrespectful youngsters, being loud in the library (SHHH), having to actually LEAVE the library to further his knowledge?!
Goals and motivations:
- Ramiel's current topic of study involves the evil spirits, and the different pieces that comprise a soul
- Maybe if he studies enough he can get to the bottom of the issue plaguing the land?
Beliefs:
Religion: Believes in many gods which he calls higher beings. He considers the ancestors of cats to be their first line of communication with any higher being, and hopes to one day get to meet and study a higher being.
PureBloods vs Hybrids: For a long time Ramiel was stubbornly against the laws against hybrids that produced such prejudice. But after long hours of reluctant study and logical thinking, he has come to see the reason in it. The law seeks to prevent hybrids comprising of 3 or more species, so as to avoid physical problems that would cause the hybrid to suffer or die an early death. By limiting the mixes of blood, Egypt could continue to house so many distinct species of cats without any of them dying out from breeding with incompatible mates.
The Seeker: This topic is of curious interest to Ramiel; he believes in the power that the Seeker role holds, and the importance it has to the cats of the Delta. However, Ramiel cannot seem to find any firm reason as to why the Seeker is required for this role. Not every land relies on a single mortal for such things as natural as life and death, and the reach of the Seeker's need seems to end away from the Nile Delta. What makes the Delta so special that a Seeker must be present to ensure the continued life of the land? And why, after so long, have they not returned or a new one been born? Why have the divine forces of the Delta been so silent, watching life here ebb away?
OTHER FACTS
- Ramiel witnessed the Medjay Pharaoh have an encounter with a spirit, and hopes to meet the pharaoh in order to press him for answers about what it was like
- Ramiel is finally growing restless in the library, and has realized that it is about time for him to leave his sanctuary in order to experience what he has learned first hand.

RELATIONSHIPS:
UNNAMED LIBRARY CAT - He was here when I got here, and welcomed me to stay in the library. I think he was lonely; cats don't often visit this boring place. He lives here and his human partner works here. UNNAMED guards the place, and is quite knowledgeable in his own right. He taught me some basics about how to read the local language, so I could figure the rest out myself. He's about the only friend I have in this land, and I'm grateful that he doesn't think ill of me for rarely leaving the library.
