And maybe some background or scenery, have you considered it?

I have considered outdoor shoots, but I decide against it. I like the control of the lighting while indoors, & I'm kinda a private person when it comes to photographing myself.

I love the deep shadows on the skin and on your sleeve! Its gives the picture really good texture having it black and white. The position of which you're holding the katana is creative and looks grand!! Fabulous work
