Fortunately, Gabrielle is part-human and, as a consequence, her current idea of 'mating' involves snuggling, sweet, childish kisses on the nose and falling asleep on her chosen's lap in a tight hug.

I actually used Gabrielle as a main character in one of my HP fics that began at Year 5, where Gabby has transferred to Hogwarts so she can get to know Harry better, stating quite openly and confidently that she loves him. It's believed she feels this way because Harry saved her and/or his famous reputation, however, Gabrielle reveals it's more a matter of 'love at first sight'. Yes, she is grateful that he saved her turning the Second Task, but she and the others were told they were never going to be in any danger; if the task's time limit was hit, the merfolk were supposed to bring any remaining 'hostages' to the surface, a task that would take a couple minutes but the spell they were under would last another hour. As for Harry's reputation as "The Boy Who Lived". Harry doesn't have a huge reputation in Magical France because they had little to no problem from Voldemort and his Death Eaters; many magical beings are treated equally as humans in Magical France, along with partials like herself, and Muggleborns and Half-Bloods are welcome since, like humanoid magical beings, they keep wizard bloodlines from going stagnant via inbreeding, so Voldemort never really got any followers from their part of the world. And while Gabrielle does know about Harry's reputation now, it's only the events he's been part of since his first year at Hogwarts that make him heroic and noble to her, not for being "The Boy Who Lived", which he had no control over.
Because of this perspective, Gabrielle sees Harry as a young man with a noble heart, but still a normal young man at the end of the day, so much of her time is trying to get to know him as just a person. This is made a bit harder for her by her affectionate personality and feelings for him; Harry isn't used to such closeness, physical and otherwise, so she has to hold herself back so Harry is more comfortable while they get to know each other. A point that helps is that Gabrielle is open about herself: she's about 11-12 years old, but that makes her a teenager as a part Veela, which age slightly faster than humans physically, but a lot more sexually (quarter-Veela like Gabrielle and Fleur hit puberty around 9-10, but half-Veela like their mother does so around 8, maybe even 7); Gabrielle just argues she inherited her mother's "late bloomer" gene. A point that hurts Gabby is that she gets put in Slytherin because she's so ambitious; she's very talented magically, especially in regards to her Veela qualities, and aspires to gain a high standing position in society when she gets older like her parents; she's also smart (as proven above), loyal to her family and home country, and brave (she is going to school is another country where she basically doesn't know anyone, after all), but her ambition is her defining virtue. Despite this, she only sits at the Slytherin table during official events when she has to; she has no problem using her Veela Allure to manipulate the males, and some females, of Slytherin to act like fools to leave her alone, and will hex those who aren't as easily manipulated, arguing if they're weak-willed enough to fall victim to her Allure or too slow or stupid to avoid her hexes, they deserve what they get. She also privately admits to Harry and their close friends that she's actually too young to be able to 'turn off' her Allure; she can suppress it or encourage it, but can't turn it off, so the fact that Harry hasn't jumped when she's effectively thrown herself at him makes her regard Harry as very strong willed.
It's in regards to Harry's friends that I did the most with Gabrielle in the story, namely by criticizing and scolding them for not knowing or caring about Harry as much as real friends would. Ron is a self-centered prat who envies Harry's fame and lusts for attention; not surprising given his large family, but it doesn't give him a pass to be as much of an ass as he can be. Ginny says she loves Harry, but doesn't know anything about him personally, just what stories have been told about him; she doesn't love Harry, she loves the "Harry Potter" character from her fairytales and fantasies. Hermione isn't as bad as them, but for being so smart, she failed to recognize the quite clear signs that Harry wasn't treated well, and if Hermione ever raised any concerns over him, she let it go after telling an adult about them, never checking back, at least not with Harry, to see if anything had actually been done, just trusting whoever she told and giving herself a pat on the head. A major issue Gabrielle has is how none of them thought about Harry's self-worth; his actions that made him heroic are still noble, but frightening considering that, given the conditions around which Harry grew up, his actions were less motivated by fearlessness, and more by viewing anyone else's life as worth more than his own; he's so willing to risk his life because he doesn't believe his life has meaning, at least not compared to those around him. Gabrielle argues that Harry's only true friends at Hogwarts have been Neville, who despite his hardships doesn't envy Harry's fame and is willing to both support and stand up to Harry, and Luna, who accepts Harry at his face value by measuring him by his actions, never having believed the stories told about him.
This 'argument' between Gabrielle, Harry, and his friends was the last major event I wrote in the story. The truth of Gabby's words cause Harry to start spending more time with Neville and Luna, who welcome his company. Ginny initially dismisses Gabrielle's words as trying to chase her away, getting a lot of support from her mother, but eventually accepts that they were true and starts trying to really get to know Harry as just friends. Ron continues to prove himself a prat and, when Harry shows he doesn't want to hang out with Ron, goes his own way, acting pretty much the same way he did when Harry was revealed as a contender in the Tri Wizard Tournament. Hermione makes up with Harry the fastest, not hanging around for about a solid week, before approaching and apologizing to Harry, admitting she had expressed concerns about him to some teachers and then let them go, believing that the teachers would have done something about them, and has just spent the past week doing late followup and is quite angry with herself and several teachers after learning that the most that was done was nutrition potion being snuck into Harry's drinks by the castle's elves, which did nothing about his problems at home. Harry, being the kind of guy he is, forgives Hermione and Ginny, welcoming them to being his friends, but Gabrielle blocks Harry from making peace with Ron, arguing Ron has to make the first move, which both Hermione and Ginny somberly agree with. I ironically remember that the story did have a 'harem' aim past this in regards to the characters, but it never got to that point.
As for the main story, it was generally the same as Order of the Phoenix, but with some key changes. Because of Gabrielle's influence, Harry was doing well in Snape's mental defense lessons, but while Snape was still a git, the big argument/breakup with his friends causes him to treat Harry with a small yet noticeable change that Harry picks up on, helped out when Gabby admits Snape had her stay after class one day and asked her what she knew about Harry; because of how Snape had treated Harry before, Gabby hadn't told him anything, instead asking why he suddenly cared and told him to find out for himself, but Harry's already had one lesson with Snape since this happened, and he didn't ask Harry about it, keeping things on the purpose of the lesson; although, it might explain why Snape didn't try pushing into Harry's mind during that lesson as hard as he had before, since maybe Snape may not want to know the answer. The DA group also still exists, but is public; Umbridge's bigotry against non-humans and partials causes her to hate and target Gabrielle early on, who eventually retorts by threatening to make Umbridge the reason the Confederation takes a close hard look at Magical Britain's Ministry; while Mister Delacour isn't Magical France's Minister, he does work for him, and telling her family about the extremely sub-standard Defense classes the British Ministry is forcing on Hogwarts through Umbridge, which is also radically different compared to everywhere else in the magical world, it can easily be passed on to France's Ambassador at the Confederation and made to raise uncomfortable questions; if not that, then certainly Umbridge's unethical abuse of Harry, Magical Britain's biggest celebrity and hero. Even if the Confederation can't do anything, Gabby debates it wouldn't be hard to 'convince' Harry to go somewhere else to get the education he needs, like Magical France; and once he was there, if what Harry said about Voldemort did prove to be true, for what reason would Harry have to go back to Magical Britain to clean up their mess when, given the Ministry's current treatment of Harry, they clearly don't want him around. This forced Umbridge to back off and the Ministry to lessen the pressure; classes are still purely 'theoretical', but nothing is able to stop students from learning the practicals from each other (it's revealed via a meeting between Umbridge and Fudge that it's less the political threats and more the "oh s**t, if Potter is right and he buggers off to Magical France with his French tart, we're f**ked" issue that makes the Ministry back down). I remember I intended for a third guy to get added to Harry's friend group from the "Practical Defense Club" meetings, but I forget who it was.
And that's pretty much where I got writer's block. I didn't know what I wanted to do with Snape or Umbridge, or how I could make the prophesy come about since Harry's mental defense thing was actually going good. I don't recall what I wanted to do with the whole 'harem' aspect of the story, but I did have Harry and Gabrielle be very close with him having become comfortable with her affectionate ways, but nothing yet went deeper between them than hugs, kissing, and regular physical contact; clothing was still untouched. I did know I intended for Harry to spend summer in Magical France, the Delacours taking him and Gabby from the train and bypassing the Dursleys completely, despite Dumbledore's insistances that he return, refusing to let Harry to go back to a place had admitted was abusive, negating any 'protection' he 'might' receive, arguing he was far safer in France, where Voldemort had next-to-no to no followers compared to the plenty that were around in Magical Britain. Wasn't sure if I was going to have Harry go back to Hogwarts for Year 6; at the very least, I think I had him reluctant and only really going back to be with his friends, but I'm not 100.
If anyone wants to adopt this storyboard, go ahead. I sadly don't have time to write fanfics anymore.
