Description So, it's way too late for Christmas, and way too early for Halloween, but here we are. It's done when it's done.

I just wanted to do some fan art for Trick'r'Treat and Krampus, two holiday films which I adore very much and which also share a writer/director and might as well be set in the same universe. Also, Sam is just the cutest thing ever.

Krampus: Hey Sam, how's it going?

Sam: Can't complain. Been reinforcing the traditions of Halloween. Yourself?

Krampus: Same, only with the spirit of Christmas.

Sam: Cool. Want a candy cane?

Krampus: Yes, thank you.Β

(returns)

Suddenly had an idea of what would happen if the two met:

Krampus would probably know who Sam is (thanks to looking in on the world through his snow globes; how else does Krampus know who to punish?) and sees a bit of himself in the demonic kid (they serve as enforcers on their respective holidays and punish the rulebreakers)

Sam would possibly mistake Krampus for Santa (I see Christmas stuff around Halloween a lot) and offer a package of cookies (I've gotten them on Halloween before); after taking the cookies, Krampus would possibly give Sam a candy cane (which Sam would take after carefully checking it over).

Then the two would go their separate ways

i have a character actually that is the child of Krampus and she was a fan character I made when I was writing a fanfiction about trick r treat. In the fanfiction the character was Sam's mother and I loved the movie so much.Β

Sam and Krampus are a lot alike: 1.) Both are Pagan beings; 2.) Both hid in plain sight on their respective holidays; 3.) Both carry around sacks; 4.) Both are super strong despire their appearances; 5.) Both enforce the rules of their special days; 6.) Both are machinators who often have others do their dirty work for them while they are behind the scenes; 7.) Both have a taste for sweets (Sam with candy and Krampus for cookies); 8.) Both hold respect for who upholds the rules; 9.) Both always expect something in return when they help others.

Glad you agree. There is also the fact that their main helpers are not human. The werewolves and the dark elves along with the undead children and the enchanted toys. BTW, did you also see the short which inspired Trick r' Treat to be made, also done by the director?

Man, I loved Krampus! Such a great throwback to "horror-lite" films like Gremlins, but still plenty horrific. That Jack in the Box was creepy as hell!Β

They really are the only two notable horror icons that have come out of film-making in the last decade I will admit. They are no Ghostface, Jason, or Micheal Myers....but at least they are notable. I'm still waiting for my Trick'r'Treat 2 movie darn-it

OperaGhost21 In reply to earthbaragon [2016-03-25 21:24:29 +0000 UTC]

You know, that's a good point. There really haven't been any great horror icons recently. I mean, maybe Jigsaw? I haven't actually seen a single Saw though so idk.

And so am I! But I'm pretty sure they're actually working on it now!
