This is beautiful! I love the splattery shading you have going on here. I can't watercolor to save my life. XD

watercolor is kind of finnicky.
Thanks very much!

I like it a lot. It's instantly eye-catching, and I love the simple, but effective shading.

He looks like someone just made an ass of themselves and so he's removed his mask in order to issue an emphatic and unreserved "...seriously?"

I have to agree with all the previous wonderful comments. This is one of the most accurate Erik's I've seen in a while. I LOVE the intensity of his gaze and what Muirin said about the spots and blotches of ink helping to create this sense of chaos around him, but his eyes remain absolute. Well done!

Delightful. This struck me at once as one of the alarmingly few interpretations of Erik on DA that remind me of Erik rather than a rather cute alien. The intensity of the expression almost overshadows his disfigurement too which seems perfectly in keeping. Magnificent work.

I appreciate that a lot, thank you! I try to stay as faithful to the character as I possibly can in my interpretations.

Oh, my gosh. This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the ghost-like quality of this, too: how the mask and his hand sort of fade away, and how he seems to just gradually dissolve into the background. And the subtle chaos created by the ink and watercolor...wow! Definitely one of my favorite pieces of yours!

I've always loved your bold ink work. How long have you been working with ink?

Opergeist In reply to Muirin007 [2010-11-10 04:49:02 +0000 UTC]

From you, this is a high compliment indeed! The admiration is mutual. Your line work always looks so effortless and crisp. Thank you so much!

I've worked with ink for almost as long as I've been drawing. It's a really fun medium in which to dabble and mix.
