Description
This will be my fourth sculpture in my Alice in Wonderland series. The photos above show about seven hours of work.

For purposes of getting myself ready for the character of the caterpillar I decided to give him cancer and Alzheimer's. Cancer because of decades upon decades of chain smoking. And Alzheimer's due to the fact that he repeatedly asks "Who are you...?".

This is actually my 3rd attempt at making the caterpillar. The first was more like a joke and essentially a warm up since I hadn't worked with clay in over 3 weeks.

My 2nd attempt was too small, which didn't bother me at first since I planning to make a huge mushroom base for it. But in the end the caterpillar didn't have as much presence as I would have liked, so I scrapped it.

Now the funny thing with this current one is that he's too big. Which has forced me not to include the mushroom base as originally planned. Though, it's for the better since I like the idea putting a mushroom colony on his back better.
