People always ask why he seems so happy. "I just am" he replies, and everyone just accepts this response. They seem to think that everything is going well for this person.
Yet if people looked deeper within this man's heart, they'd find something dark, hidden. Remorse, grief, anger, sadness, regret, loneliness and the feeling of an abscense of love. They are all there somewhere.
"But" he hears you ask "Why are you always smiling?"
"It is simple" he replies "I cannot bear to see my friends, and those I hold close to my heart, depressed, in pain. This joy is for them, to cheer them up, to relieve their sadness."
"But what about when you're working with Youth, most of them are strangers" you reply "Why then do you smile?"
"Because I am trying to bring them to something better"
You look confused
"I am trying to take them away from the things in the world that will harm them, even kill them. If I look solemn, mournful, what witness do I show them. They will simply think that what I try to bring to them is going to cause them pain, and so they leave. Its not that I want to smile" he says finally "In fact, quite often I feel the complete opposite...I smile because I have to..."
He turns and walks away, smiling once again
