the accident occurred in a pacifist timeline. they did go through genocide run previously, but frisk reset before reaching the throne room. ^^

Every time I think about what Frisk had to go through during the genocide route (let's assume killing everyone was never her first choice), especially if she had feelings for Sans, it's just... In my mind Frisk is not fully there, her presence is suppressed into some kind of daze and manipulated by Chara. I can just see it:
Kill him!
Kill Sans?.. But I love him...
Love? Hahahahahaha! The only LOVE you'll ever need is the one I give you. Look, can't you see? He doesn't love you, he hates you! Now kill him!
And Sans would have to go through so much more pain if he had feelings for Frisk. It's not just that she killed everyone and his brother, but looking at this person he so obviously cared about in some previous life, and seeing this murderous empty puppet would completely break his heart.
