Prompt 1: Avengers, assemble! Oh, wait...
Featuring Zelgaes and Dori

"There lies the sky, above us high... with traveller's love, the moon above~"

The quiet voice cut trailed off, the sounds of singing lost to the emptiness of the night. Zelgaes grimaced as a gust of cold wind went by, biting at his exposed arms, however the large stallion at his side provided some much needed cover as they walked along.

Zelgaes smiled as he looked to the gentle giant that walked beside him; he had never really had much interaction with the stallion before, but when he got the summons from the Prince, he knew there was no better choice. Dori was a quiet, stable stallion with a gentle nature and a natural urge to protect -- once he earned the steed's loyalty, Zelgaes had no doubt Dori would be the perfect partner.

This was only the beginning of their journey, though. The return to Alderann had been... oddly nostalgic. Unlike most of the others he had met, he didn't have many bad memories associated with this land. He didn't even bear any particular ill faith towards the Army he had abandoned; to him, they were all just two sides of a single coin, endlessly fighting over what were, to him, irrelevant issues.

He had never been the type to live for a cause. For people, however...

The drow's smile turned a little self-deprecating around the edges as he thought of the circumstances that had brought him to Earth. Ah, but he had always been a fool for love.

As if sensing the dark turn his rider's thoughts had taken, the large mosaic stallion whuffled out a breathy sigh and turned to nose at the drow's dark skin, pressing his soft muzzle to a lined cheek. Zelgaes huffed out a laugh and gently pushed the stallion away, tickling the nose teasingly before he forced himself to push his thoughts away.

There was still a little distance to go till they reached the camp. There was no point dwelling in the past. Not even the recent past.

Zelgaes hummed with a careful lightheartedness, drawing out his old sword to hold it aloft, squinting down it's fine bright edge critically.

"Well, it's been awhile since I've had to use this, baby boy. You might have to watch both our backs till I get the hang of it again." He said, grinning at the stallion as he holstered the blade once more.

Dori snorted and shook his head, his expression exasperated but already holding tinges of affection for his rider. Zelgaes mirrored the look with one of his own, patting Dori's large shoulder before he began to lead the way once more.

"Off we go, then. Refugee camp, should be fun... Nothing like a little outdoor camping to feel alive, no?" The drow smiled as he led the stallion along, ignoring the way the horse snorted in response.

All would be well. This would be good for him, for them.

It had to be.
