Oh boy, I am sooo making one of these. I might make a few - customise it a little (I actually have a fancharacter for kingdom hearts - it would be great to have his name on the back, or my deviantart name or something XD...)

question! do you remember the specific name of the beads you bought? I searched several Michael's and couldn't find anything close to them... have any advice?

Hmm...nope I don't! I know they came is a plastic bag with a cardboard label on top...the label might have been blue and black? Sorry, it was a while ago. Surely there's something similar out there?

Yea there's nothing good I can find at any Michael's but if I do its too small or doesn't look like the bead I want.

Yo, chicka. Just bought my fabric for my Organization jacket, and I ran across this tutorial when I was trying to figure out how to make the chain. XD You have some remnants of those beads, 'cause they look awesome? I'd buy them off of you if you'd like...

Aww, this would have been good if the shops you bought the materials from were in Britain too
I could just find the materials elsewhere and follow the rest XD

Wow, this was a really great idea. My friends and I have been wanting to cosplay for a while, but we didn't have the money to get the trench coats. But this is a really simple and cheap way. Thanks!

To put the chains together, all you need is a pair of all-purpose pliers. And Micheal's sells some very nice, affordable sets of beading tools, as well as singles.
Over-all, its a really simple design. I'll definitely be trying it out this summer, when I have some free-time

Did the knot at the end of the pull ever come apart when you washed it or anything?
I'm trying to make this, and I don't know if i should just put a really good knot, or put a bead for the end.

No it hasn't, but I dipped it in wax. Just light a normal candle, wait for it to melt a bit, and stick in the liquid stuff.

question!! when sewing on the patch, will it unravel? im making a project but i have no idea how to sew on patches TT^TT
help would be awesome, thanks

Oriana132 In reply to chocolaterainbows13 [2010-02-20 03:14:48 +0000 UTC]
It depends on the material. I cut mine from an old cotton t-shirt and it's gotten a bit frayed but in a cool and stylish way. I hand sewed it, but machine sewing it would definitely be more secure.
