"I feel so helpless," Scarlet whispered. "How do you deal with it? How do you wait around, while someone you care about is hurt, or in pain, maybe even dying? I don't even know, they wouldn't let me in to see her."

"It's a hospital policy," James explained. "Only immediate family members are allowed to visit while the patient is in the need of the most care."

"Well that's a dumbass policy. Hell, you and I are her immediate family. We should be there!" As she continued, her voice sounded stronger as her anger came back. "And that isn't even the worst part. Even Christian told me to leave. I could hear his voice in my head, reforming my thoughts. How could he side with those... humans?" Scarlet growled. She looked up, wiping a hand across her face and noticed Jena standing at the door.

"What are you doing here!" Scarlet snapped. She tried to stand up but stumbled and fell backward against the wall.

"Stop, Scarlet. You're in no condition to attack anyone, least of all Jena." James said. "Now, we need to get yourself cleaned and sobered up. You can't help Raven drunk and feeling sorry for yourself, and we've got more trouble to discuss."
