Description
Edit:With some advice from !Jaala and brilliant insight from `ctJemm , I've fixed some of the things that were bugging me about the original colours.
`ctJemm suggested I up the drama by creating some visual contrast -- engulf his back side in shadow to make the playing card pop! This advice alone improved the image ten-fold, imho. (Thanks again, Lil' Grasshopper!)
Both !Jaala and `ctJemm pointed out that the "Gambit" text from the previous version was drawing waaaay too much attention away from Gambit himself, so I've embossed it and faded it into the bg.

I loved gambit in the old cartoons, and i wish they'd portrayed him better in Origins.
Beautiful job, by the way. <3

me too, except for silent hill. I saw the movie first, then played 2, and was like that was it? 8 hours and 31 minutes later...

I think the coloring is beautiful!! The glow turned out quite nicely. A lot better than most that I've seen that's for sure! I think the hair is impressive as well. I can see the detail in which most others lack. Nicely done! Do you draw by hand and then color your own work in Photoshop?
And if you check out my gallery, any suggestions you may have for me would be helpful. Thanks!

Thank you!! Typically I do draw and ink by hand and scan before colouring digitally. Other times, I'll ink it digitally also, for cleaner lines. I don't use photoshop for the bulk of my colouring because I find it runs to sluggish on my aging computer, but it is great for effects and tweaking and finishing a picture off.
I did check out your gallery. You have brilliant pencil work. Your portraits are incredibly life like. I am particularly impressed with your ability to capture exactly the shades of light and dark. Is there any particular piece(s) you would like critiqued? I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Wow! Impressive! If you don't use Photoshop for the digital coloring, may I ask what you do use? I've heard inking by hand is the best way to go. I have yet to try that myself.
And thank you so much!! Nothing in particular I'm dying to have critiqued, but if you'd like to pick one or two and critique them, I would sure appreciate it! I value other's opinions so much!

I like to use PaintTool SAI, with which I find I get the results I expect. For me it's more intuitive than PS.
At first, inking by hand is a rather daunting task, especially if you use brush or crow quill with ink -- messy as heck and the feeling you won't be able to undo mistakes can be overwhelming. I'm not quite there yet myself, but you do learn to not make mistakes over time.
When I have a moment, I'll try to pick a piece to critique.

I'll have to look into that PaintTool SAI. I've never heard of it before. And I should pick up some ink sometime so I can start practicing inking by hand. (I'm sure it is messy!)
And thank you! I would very much appreciate a critique.

I wish I could make this a print on dA, but unfortunately, I can't because they won't sell third party copyright content as part of their policy. Sorry! ^^'
