Description Some mushrooms in a box that I made as props for a bigger project. Comments welcome.
Modelled and rendered in Carrara 8.5. UVs in Headus UVlayout. Textures in GIMP.
I uploaded the model in as premium content at the lowest price as a test. There are a bunch of file types and texture maps included.

That's a pretty cool render with nice natural lighting and lovely textures! How long did it take and what were the render settings?

As an off-topic: I am currently contemplating an animation project in Carrara, so if you have any tips for me, I'd really appreciate them. So far I am thinking through prep: storyboarding, character designs, style tests etc. but I am repeatedly running into render speed issues and things like inability to make realistic fur.

Thanks. This is a rather uncomplicated render and it didn't take long: I used one of the preset lighting schemes from Cararra and tweaked it a bit. It is with realistic sky 100%, 20% ambient, + one white bulb to the right and one orange to the left. Indirect lighting on. I'll mail you the file.
As for render speed there are some toxic combinations I've noticed. Hair and indirect lighting and volumetric clouds and indirect lighting, not to mention blurry reflections. If you stay with ambient occlusion it is usually pretty fast. What are the fur issues? I am not so much into furry things but I've found Cararra's hair facility really good.

Don't worry about sending the file, I just got it from here . I just wanted some more info about it first.

My furry woes started when I tried to create a realistic rabbit fur for the recent challenge. You can see the failed result here: www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply… and the post also has links to my wip attempts. What I wasn't able to get was short and fluffy look. I am either getting too much distinction between individual hairs or unrealistic hair width or near-invisible hairs or too regular patterns of clump, and the bottom line was that I just couldn't get it to work. I can get scruffy fur out of it and longer hair seems to actually work better, but not the fluffy look.

Thanks for buying the download. I guess it is just the box though and not the background. The whole scene should be available in your dropbox. There are many combinations of settings in the hair department. I think your rabbit is getting there, I'd try thinner hairs and lots of them.
