Description In 1900 the first of the "Wizard of OZ" novels was released by L. Frank Baum.

Featured in a few of his books were two maps, one of the Countries of OZ, and the other, a loose description of the OZ provinces.

In later novels, the appearance of a 'rogue' map where East and West were reversed made an appearance.

And finally, in the year 1980, Dick Martin created a textual map that contained over 70% of the inner-OZ happenings.

In 2010 I am publishing the first of a series of novels entitled "The Maleficent Land of OZ". In preparation for this, and, as a tool by which I have been writing, I have crafted what I believe is a comprehensive map of the happenings in OZ proper, as well as the surrounding countries. This has been compiled from the text, as well as loosely based on the 4 earlier occurrences of OZ maps.

Enjoy.

And this is why Oz would make a great D&D campaigner lol we already have a map

I think that would be a GREAT use of the map. It's definitely large enough. There's a lot of room to play. The Oz fandom Wikia has a LOT of information on each of the characters, and you'll find that it's now passed its Copyright date and can be used for anything. So streaming, or even publishing the campaigns you create is completely legal now. I hope you have a ton of fun!

This was done in FireWorks. When I do a revised version this year, I'll be using Inkscape. ☺

Great Job Otaku! I even rmember Gen Guph having to cross the ripple land twice enroute frm Whimsies to Growleywogs to Phanphasms and you nailed even that small fact on your map! I seem to recall Rinketink in Oz had a couple islands where the book started. Oyster Harvesters. What was the name of this island?

I love this map so much!! It's so hard to find such a good version of the Oz map that is not the original.

Best. OZ. Map. Available. However, in the munchkin country you marked "Ojo's House" at the bottom and just "Ojo" at the top.

I've had lots of fun checking the consistency of this map/using it as a tool to enhance the original books.

Great work.

I love the map but it hard to see the details. Would you brake it up into lands to be more easy to see.

Interesting. Different from some of the other Oz maps I've seen.

I heard the story behind that rogue map is an accidental reversal of a slide that Baum was using.

That is the story I had heard as well. This vagrant has been quite useful in story craft.

In my Oz novel, I have the Wizard boost the power of the Magic Picture so it looks through time and sees YamaYamaLand the primal continent that broke up into all the land masses in the Nonestic Ocean nowadays. W/E Across the continent lay the Osohei Mountains now worn down to flatlands.

Mayhaps the consequences of the thermonuclear war that ended the Rivin Empire explained some of the odder phenomena that Baum reported ... The Deadly Desert was created in that all-out holocaust of technology and mayhaps many odd life-forms....
