When lancers units are introduced in 2577s, Humanity has already fighting a losing war against BIOTICS, coming so near with defeat. Lancers comes to tip the balance for human favor, bolstering their defense greatly and reducing strain in logistic. Still, this war locked in stalemate until they going for their first offense on next five years.

First Lancers unit comes from Joint Earth Federation - Commonwealth of Albion unit, armed with Conqueror and Centurion Main Battle suiT (MBT) armor. Earth Federation, Republic of Kartoga and Republic of Normandie follow suit with their own variant of MBT armor, namely M103 and M46, Type-10 and Type-55, and AMX 50. These armors will form 1st generation MBT armor, and marked new entry on armored warfare.

Pictured here is Conqueror and Centurion MBT armor, breaking off stalemate on Industrial World Herstellung II of Franchia Federation and providing first victory on this war. Both are made for different role: Conqueror, with would perform point defense or line breakthrough when Centurion will perform support for Conqueror on defense or exploit enemy rear after breached by Conqueror bombardment.

For that purpose, Conqueror have larger Backpack to produce higher shield and beam output, with additional body armor for it user. Consequently, Conqueror has low tactical mobility – slow and hard to move, though near-impossible to break apart. Its main armament, L2 40 mm energy Rifle, is capable to deliver energy projectile at par on High Velocity 120mm cannon.

In other hand, Centurion may not have same level of protection and firepower as Conqueror, but better mobility due it lighter frame. And while not as heavily armored, it energy shield makes any additional protection redundant. It firepower with L1 20mm energy rifle are not slouch either, at par with 75mm high velocity tank cannon. It also got a good mobility-with skilled user it can reach 50 kmph offroad, though normally only reach 35 kmph.
