Description
This is a scene from the original Anne story, the girl who would later become Lee's ancestor and inspiration. It is a follow on from "Substitute".

On Christmas day, Anne's brother is given an electric guitar. Knowing that Anne used to play before she lost her hand, he passes it to her and insists she try. Only just starting to come to terms with the loss herself, and the resultant hopelessness, Anne tries, and discovers to her amazement that while she is now limited to just strumming the guitar, she is able to play.
Eventually the other members of the family wander off to do other Christmas things, but no one dares to take the guitar from Anne. They are too concerned with not extinguishing this unexpected spark of life.
