I find it is easier to picture a piece if you are standing right there were it will be. That works well for a number of things I do.

I take digital photos on site then import them to my Wacom Light Tablet to sketch my ideas and finish with photoshop to make presentation drawings so the clients can see clearly what the piece will look like...

Its a great idea though, saves a lot of work that maybe they don't like in the end.

I work out allot of my designs with the sketch book,arranging and rearranging the components to a piece and watching the energy flow. That crossing gap is definitely the focal point of the piece,but our eyes do not stop but continue to jump the space and continue flowing with the lines... There is so much that can enhance an artist's or artisan's work by knowing the dynamics of sight. I have always found it the most fascinating subject,and it has informed my work immeasurably...
But not everybody sees it or gets what's going on.
Bravo that you're keyed in, to that.

no, I'm pretty lazy about reading others comments usually. I do read the full artists description, but I'll usually only read comments if I have a question about a piece and it looks like it might have been answered in the comments.

thanks, I have been training in art for a long time. I dunno if I would call it a good eye as much I'd say I've just gotten use'd to noticing intentional design elements.

Yet another site specific design and fabrication.
I photograph the space first for reference,make sketches of several appropriate designs,pass them through the interior desecrator first( so there's at least the semblance of going through channels),then send the drawings to the client for approval or changes...

Very similar to the landscape design process...even having to harmonize with the interior or whatever is on the cover of the current trend magazine

I think you should create a catalog of your work and showcase the your work like one of the fine jewelry catalogs(like Tiffanies) or take a good look at the Coach catalog for pocketbooks if you like I will send you sample s of these catalogs so you can see what am talking about. What I am saying is put them in a more commercial presentation thats all. I really see you as one of those chic designers down in Soho, But your work is just so much better then any work I have seen down there.

This problem of appropriate marketing of an artist's work is not new.
It is a difficulty that nearly all artists and artisans run into .
After many years of plying my trade in my own area ,I'm considered something of a resource,since I know nearly all the artists and artisans in this area.
I've always connected people simply as a courtesy though there are services that do this for a fee.
I have often fantasized a large art facility that might have studios and a gallery,but more importantly a central resource data bank and office that would function to facilitate the connecting of artists with patrons...Interior designers and architects (for instance) might pay a fee to have access to hundreds of digital portfolios that they could view on state of the art equipment in a comfortable setting,to find just the right artist for their requirement...
