Of course, what Church didn't realise but Carolina did was that her father had paid for his sins. He paid for them every day that he was alive and Allison wasn't there, no matter how hard he tried to get her back. A prisoner, helplessly bound in chains made up of his memories.
Carolina knew that there was nothing else she could do to him; he'd already lost everything - it was either taken from him or he threw it away in a desperate attempt to catch a shadow.
