The more I look at this and the original Cyberdemon sprites, I realized that it was nothing more than a larger than normal Baron of Hell with cybernetic enhancements.

Probably. I didn't really hate the new cyberdemon design wise, but at the same time I feel like it would have had a much bigger impact if it had a more iconicΒ resemblance like a lot of the other monsters in the new game.

How do you feel about Eternal's Tyrants? Cyberdemon in all but name.

Visually, from a nostalgic factor,Β I like them, though from what I've seen they don't really have much of a presence in the game other then existing as bigger enemy types that just show up later in the game...I donno, I guess the big "Member this guy?" moment came and went with the 2016 game's Cyberdemon.

Yeah, the Tyrant doesn't have the same role as the old cyberdemon. Encountering a cyberdemon used to be a "holy shit!" moment, and you often faced one alone because they posess a significant threat. Tyrants just randomly spawn along with the usual army of demons and aren't nearly as threatening. I machinegunned one with just a 5-second volley (quad barrels) without even moving that much. A real cyberdemon would have gibbed you long before that...
