this is Ruby! She's the adopted child of Twilight and Tempest (who might still have that other kid Lilac Breeze, I haven't decided yet)
She’s a dragon (obviously) who was adopted after she was found beat up and abandoned in the woods. She was raised by a dragon fundamentalist cult that kicks all dragons out after they hit puberty as part of a coming of age ritual. Ruby hit puberty a lot earlier than most dragons so kicking her out was a big debate in the community, but they eventually did cast her out as their rules decided. She’s kinda traumatized by dragons and has self hatred towards herself because of it, so Twilight thought it might be a good idea to give her a magic transformation ring so she can live as a pony. Is this a good idea? Probably not honestly. But Ruby much prefers being in her pony form, so it's hard for Twilight to deny her. The transformation ring was originally just supposed to be short term solution, but Ruby becomes quite dependent on it over time.
Ruby has neurotic personality, even before she was cast out by her group she was soft spoken and withdrawn. She's always loved reading, and she read almost every book her small community had, even the half burned ones. One of the greatest joys she finds in her new home with Twi and Tempest is their extensive library of books from every corner of the world. Ruby can spend hours holed up in their library, reading books with her mother.

still gotta do something with her...i have a bunch of ideas and still wanna do a few more nextgen stories even if a lot of people have moved on from next genning at this point.
