Any papers or articles claiming humans used wolves to hunt?

Awesome! Love seeing the practice that goes into a final piece! How do you achieve your shaded areas? Not the ones that are hatched - but the smooth ones. Is the pencil smudged? If so, with what? I struggle to get smooth shaded areas with pencil...

Thanks for the comment
I often use smudge sticks/eraser pencilsΒ image.dhgate.com/albu_32369346… - just a stick of compressed paper, to get a sharp smudging tip to blend the graphite. Then I lift out my highlights with an eraser, and then go back in again with the sharp graphite pencil to define the forms. If you can't find smudge sticks, a wad of kleenex wrapped around your fingertip or end of a paintbrush will do just fine.

I agree with kalmanen that it's very interesting to see your thought process behind the finished work. Also, I really admire the sense of form and solidity that your sketches have.

Interesting to see your brain at work (in a way), thought the finished illustration is awesome, I hope you someday will use the left side perspective/idea for something else

So glad you enjoy these!
Thankfully Asian elephants make good references for mammoths, otherwise my reconstructions would be abysmal

The one top-left? I was tempted to make that one into the final painting, but it didn't have the dogs as the focus, so .. maybe another time i'll draw that one just for fun.
