I kind of rushed this so that's why the insides of Tails and Cream might look a little substandard.Anyway, I'm a big Tails fan but for some reason, I always imagine him as being recessive and passive to other characters, especially girls. This picture's actually a little different than most of what I draw as this actually has a back-story behind it and isn't just somebody picking somebody up for no reason. For this scene, I'm imagining that mid-way through some battle with Robotnik, Tails and Cream get separated from the rest of the cast and have to find their way back to everyone else only to find a rocket launching, robot flying, etc and they watch in silent awe...Tails apparently hurt his leg or realized that Cream can run faster than him so he hopped on her back to speed their journey up.
Overall, this is one of my favorite drawings of all time. Most of the time I overdo how big I need Cream look compared to other characters but she looks realistic and on model here (if I do say so myself). I also liked how Tails came out. He looks pretty accurate (though I always have a tough time drawing where his body ends and his tails begin). To me, it genuinely looks like Cream is holding him up and that I didn't just draw two images near each other (you know how if you say a word over and over it loses its meaning, sometimes my drawings turn out like that but not this time).

Thank you very much! I actually imagined Tails and Cream being the same size in this picture (thought I measured it out, but I guess I messed up), but I always loved playing around with Tails and Cream. Considering Tails is so shy and nice, I thought it would be more interesting to make Cream stronger than him; he solves the puzzles and makes the plans, but she does the running and the fighting.
And yes, Tails being a scared, little fuzzball who needs protection (even from someone younger than him) is simply too cute.

Great picture, it certainly goes to show that cream is more than a background character. Although, I'm not sure if it's me, but... hasn't Sonic Team made Tails and Sonic more wimpy over the years?. It just seems that way to me. Regardless, great picture

Thank you very much. This picture hardly gets any attention so I'm glad you like it. I never got behind Cream's characterization as a generic polite girl, so I always throw in something to make her more badass. At least this time she's not beating Tails up, so that's good.
It ain't just you. Sonic still seems like Sonic to me, but Tails has definitely become wimpy as of late. I haven't played a game since Unleashed but if that one's any indication, Tails doesn't fight anymore and has become so scared of enemies (or at least monstrous ones like Dark Gaia's fragments) that he actually runs away from them. I know he's always been scared of ghosts, but he never backed down when it's important. As unpopular as Sonic '06 is, Tails took on a wave of robots by himself just to buy Sonic time to get away from them. What happened to Tails in the span of one game? I haven't played Colors or Generations but I understand he doesn't fight in those games either. Tails serving as Sonic's intel guy and helping him over the radio's cool and all, but what happened to the Tails that could kick ass too?

HARDLY any of your art gets any attention. I hate to sound dickish when I say that. But that's what I think. I hate how Tails doesn't fight anymore, I also hate how he isn't playable these days. Remember when he was the Broken character for the series?. I certainly do, Tails helping Sonic in Sonic 06 was one of the good things in Sonic 06. Kinda reminds me of the classic games. I think it's with Sonic Team slowly disbanding over the years... Hardly ny of the old staff members who worked on the old games are around anymore. I think that's why Sonic has changed so drastically.

I don't take any offense 'cause You're right. But I'm not an artist anyway, so it doesn't bother me. The "Charsmo?" picture managed to get a lot of views and comments though...mostly from angry Tails fans, heh heh heh...
I knew Yuji Naka left a long time ago, but I never stopped to think about the rest of Sonic Team. That probably is why the games have gone downhill so badly. You'd think that Sonic being Sega's mascot and all, that they'd be more picky with who does and doesn't make their games. It's like they just hand 'em out to any Tom, Dick and Harry, regardless of whether or not they know anything about the series. Man, that rumored reboot is looking better and better every day...

Why can't people take constructive opinions?. I mean, it's not like Tails wins at everything. You gotta give the other characters a chance, yknow?. SEGA must be more careful, if they wish to stay in the limelight, they must be more cautious. Starting with axeing DIMPS from making further Sonic titles.

I just made that picture for fun, so none of it ever bothers me. Most of the fans are either polite or only say one angry thing and leave, so it's more fun than annoying. As for letting characters win, something I like about Tails is that he's one of the few characters that can be played as strong or weak and it'll normally make sense. He's a lot of fun to play with 'cause he's so flexible.
I know what you're getting at and I don't mean to be a jerk, but I thought it was kinda funny how you said that Sega should be cautious and then immediately suggested they should ax Dimps (no offense). If they were the guys who made Unleashed though, I'm with you 100% on that.
They also need to get more hands-on with their mascot. He's been going downhill ever since the original Sonic Team drifted apart and as a result, every team that takes him on these days is more or less new to him and thusly can't make any long-lasting contributions (Blaze was probably the best thing non-Sonic Team studios have made...granted, she's awesome). I believe Colors and Generations were the first serious endeavors Sega's made for Sonic in a long time and the fans seemed to have appreciated them (enough so that I'm even considering playing one of them). It seems like Sonic's taking a break for now. Let's hope that it's a sign that Sega's taking greater care of things and what studios they recruit.

It's always nice to make something for fun. However, some people don't see it this way. It's a shame. The reason why I said SEGA should axe DIMPS, is because of the damage they've done to the Blue Blur. Think about it, Sonic 4 damaged Sonic's career seriously. I agree with you 100 percent there. Ever since The original Sonic Team left, no one has been able to lace his boots properly. I feel that only the Original Sonic Team can save him. They better reform before Sonic becomes a sell out.

It is a shame. Some of them have logical arguments, but others are just humorless and dumb.
I haven't played either episode of Sonic 4, nor do I know how they were received, so I can't say with certainty if DIMPS destroyed Sonic's reputation...But his reputation was ruined long before DIMPS, so they can't take all the credit for that one.
I doubt the original Sonic Team will ever get back together, but all I want is for Sega to stop passing the hedgehog off to so many studios and stick with just one. If just one team can work on this character, they can develop their own gameplay mechanics and everything that goes along with it. It might take the time a while to get started (like it took them a while to make Colors and Generations), but the fact that one dedicated team can take the time to tweak their style and figure out what works would do wonders for Sonic's games. If there really is a reboot, I hope they decide to stick with just one team instead of their current strategy.

Sorry for the late reply. Been feeling rather... unwell to say the least, anyway, moving on. That's the Sonic Fanbase for you. They're a vocal bunch who will let you know when they're not satisfied with their product, (which just happens to be all the time) . I'm only pinpointing DIMPS considering they're the latest trainwreck to work for Sonic. I'm sure there are many, many, studios who have screwed over everyones favourite hyperactive hedgehog. And what the hell happened to all the other SEGA franchises?, haven't you noticed that Sonic is the only one to come out for SEGA?. What happened to Shinobi?, Alex Kidd?, what about NIGHTS?. Seriously, Sonic needs a holiday. Sonic should only have one studio in the first place. It has been shown various times that many studios at once can't get comfortable with the hedgehog. One should join, and then adapt. That is how it should work. If that doesn't happen, Sonic will be plagued with mediocre and bad games forever.

So true. I think the most vocal and whiniest fans of artwork like that "Charsmo?" pic are the ones that don't draw that much themselves. I'm sure things would be a lot quieter if they would draw their responses.
I got'cha. I'm not a fan of whoever's responsible for Unleashed and the storybook games myself. As for the other licenses, I think the most activity they get these days are those racing and tennis games they slap Sonic's name all over. I know NiGHTS had a game not too long ago on the Wii, but it was only moderately well recieved. I don't know about any of the others.
Colors and Generations seem to have turned out well. Maybe they already found a single studio to work on Sonic's games. Here's hoping.

I am, I was just stating why my reply time was lackluster. It's not like me to tell others how I am. Sonic couples is one of the greatest subjects to bless the Sonic Fanbase, but It's also one of the stupidest. On one side you have people who support couples, but will also accept opinions in a friendly, mature manner. On the other side you have a stupid fanboy/girl who will be like... U DUN SUPPORT TAISMO? WTF U FOOL, TAISMO IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN TAIREAM GET A LIFE YOU USELESS NOBODY. And once again, let us hope there's only one studio behind the next batch of Sonic games.

So true on all accounts. Seeing characters together and talking about them being an item can be fun, but it's also one of the most heated aspects of any character(s) fanbase. I never really got serious about couples myself, so I don't know what inspires a fan to get so mad about seeing these two people together or separate. My guess is that most of them are just young and will grow out of it...At least, I hope that's the case.

I used to be serious about couples, but then I took an arrow to the kn-- just kidding. I guess I just grew up and stopped caring, (that was when I stopped using all lower case letters and such) . But, to think that people still argue over such trivial things, and yet... they're usually much older than me. I guess age doesn't lead to maturity...

That is a little strange. Well, to play Devil's Advocate, there is one or two couples that I am a little inflexible on. Batman-Catwoman and Batman-Talia al Ghul are the only couples I'd wanna see the Dark Knight in (maybe some tolerance for Batman-Barbara Gordon because of the cartoon). If I saw Batman/Bruce Wayne shacking up with anyone else, I'd actually get irritated and think to myself "Why isn't that Catwoman/Talia?" I suppose the same logic and emotions can be extended to people who wage war over other couples.
To step back to our side though, my preference for Bat-couples stems entirely from the nature of Batman's character. He's too committed to his war on crime and doesn't trust anyone enough to let them in, so two women that he knows extensively are the only logical conclusions and anything else would sorely violate the character...But that's for official stories. In fanart or parodies, I don't really care as much. As long as it doesn't go cannon, Sonic can shack up with Big the Cat for all I care and I might actually find it funny if that's how it's being presented (and maybe if it isn't).

Well, if she's stronger than he is, then they can work together, rather than one of them having to do everything. This way, Tails can lead the team and diffuse the bomb and Cream can get them places and fight any enemies they encounter.

Oy. That's where I'm afraid I might have to disappoint you. You see, I'm a writer, not an artist. As a result, drawing is a very long and hard thing for me to do (thought it's still fun). I'm currently working on something to repay another DA member who re-drew my Cream and Cosmo pic. The re-design turned out very nicely...Actually, it's Desfinity. You've been keeping track of their "A Comic," right?
I've had ideas in my head for some Tails pics. Mostly, they involve Charmy as I already have one pic with Charmy in it and that one spawned a few more ideas in my head.
I have put serious thought into coloring my black and white drawings. I'd probably color them as simply as I did "Cream and Tails: Bully Colored" but it'd be something. I'd also write a more detailed story for the scenes to further compliment them.

I have seen written stories up here but I'm hesitant to put anything up here because I'm VERY paranoid. I don't like putting original thoughts up here unless I know for a fact that there's no way anyone can steal them. It's impossible to completely safeguard something, I know, but I always say better safe than sorry. I wrote a parody of "Frankenstein" a while back though. If I can ever find that, I might put that up.
You're a writer too? That's awesome. I just read another comment of yours saying you have a Luigi comic so I guess I should have seen that coming. Any reason you're not publishing that book though? You might wanna reconsider your decision before you finalize it. A good idea can make you A LOT of money...or just make a lot of people happy to read it.
And don't worry about overtyping. As I said earlier, I LOVE long comments so the more you type, the more I have to read. I tend to type and type myself. If you ever look at my "Charsmo?" pic, you'll see what it looks like when I have absolutely no regard for word limits.

If you're trying to get in the story-telling process, it can only HELP to put stories on your resume...heck, it's hard enough to get something on your resume as it is, let alone a published work.
If you can draw AND write good stories (even in a book with no pictures), you'll make yourself a MUCH bigger catch for companies to hire you. And even if your book's made into a crappy movie, that'll mean big bucks and big recognition for future manga works. Obviously, you'd want movies based on your stuff to be good, not insulted by a crappy studio or money-hungry corruptor, but whatever you can get can only help you...as long as you're not making the bad movies yourself...
I wouldn't want anybody to make a bad movie off my stuff either but it's a long way between making a book and getting your book published and getting said book made into a movie. Of course, I'm not pro myself, just throwing my 2 cents in for what they're worth (...apparently, 2 cents).
