Description
Some time ago I made a Rachel Summers/Phoenix pic, [link] and though it was a nice, fun experiment to render not-so-good-looking fire in 3ds Max, I was never really happy with the pic. And yesterday, after seeing the awesomest Jean Grey/Phoenix pic ever [link] by Artgerm, I thought it was time to revisit mine. And though it will never be as good as his, I'm happier this time.I went back to my original Max file (which I luckily didn't delete) and re-rendered the girl with no background and no more rendered fire (and a much larger pic too), I painted the phoenix effect, as well as my usual retouching: hair and face details, and now I went with a photo of clouds I took like a year ago to get a nicer contrast than with the fire ball I used last time, besides, you can't have Hollywood explosion backgrounds all the time.
Anyway, I hope you like it.
UPDATE: I forgot to paint Rachel's face marks. That's corrected now.
Poser, 3ds Max and Photoshop.

Thank you very much! I wasn't sure about the fire at first, but I think I ended up liking it.

Great image, wonderfully executed. I'd note that Rachel in this incarnation usually had more of a short cut (sort of a buzz cut) but this is aesthetically pleasing.

Oh, yeah, I definitely took liberties with the hair, mainly because I used one of the 3D characters I regularily use and I didn't want to change her hair.
Thank you very much! And thanks for the link, I love Alan Davies.

Hehehe I'll try to be a fair demigod who'll never condemn nudity and all the fun stuff.
Thank you very much!

I was hesitant about the flames, to be honest, but I've grown to like them.
Thank you very much!

ah yes. Great colors, much nicer than in the previous one. And the Phoenix is awesome. Very fiery.
Good reworking

I can't help but awe at what a little more knowledge can do, I mean, it's less than a year ago that I made the original one, and the result in this one is a huge leap ahead. It's almost as if a different person made this one.
Thank you very much!

I totally agree! I used to love Alan Davis' Rachel in the days of Xcalibur and Whilce Portacio's Askani.
