My very first plush made with a pattern that I made all by myself.

So this has been quite the long process. I started a first draft of the pattern and then sewed a prototype in fleece to see what it looked like. The first one was very malformed xD You can see it here: sta.sh/221jfuvd1d2t?edit=1
Taking notes on all the things I wanted to change from the first pattern, I made a second and sewed another prototype. A bit better but definitely far from what I wanted You can see it here: sta.sh/2xxub65r70?edit=1
Again changing the things that looked off, made the third version. Which somehow was a lot fatter, I might have overstuffed this one You can see the third version here: sta.sh/213zbbhlr909?edit=1
I wasn't fully content with the pattern but also bored of the process and just decided to change a few small things and just started to sew Nikdo. Not with fleece, but with faux fur.

Ah faux fur, my new mortal enemy I absolutely HATED working on this plush! Which is not fun to say but it's true. From the cutting the fabric which made an absolute mess, to the trying to sew the pieces together and just failing.
Faux fur is super slippery, my pins didn't hold it so I just gave up on pins alltogether and hoped for the best. Which left me with pieces that I thought I sewed together but there would be big holes in it. It was super difficult to see where the backing of my fabric ended. I think the pure black colour also played a part in that. So a lot of the pieces I sewed skewed and crooked or filled with holes that I had to go back and fix. It took forever, my house was filled with black fur and I don't even like the outcome all that much. I finished Nikdo in the beginning of October and I haven't touched my sewing machine since. This project has demotivated me so much ;_;

So here we are. I'm finally making myself upload these pictures, I've put it off because of all the frustration he brought along with him. I have grown to like the outcome a slight bit more now that I'm accustomed to the sight of him. I think the part I hate the most are actually his eyes, he looks deranged.

I won't go into all the things I dislike about the outcome or the mistakes in the sewing. I will say one positive thing about faux fur Nikdo, he's the softest plush I have ever touched! The fabric is very high quality and it shows and feels like it. So at the very least, he's nice to pet and hold c:

I think that if I had made him using fleece, the process would have been much less frustrating. Because by the time I sewed the third prototype, I was sewing it together pretty quickly and without much trouble. Fleece is so chill to work with. It doesn't shift and it's clearly visible what you're sewing. Unfortunately I do really want to make faux fur plushies because I like those types of plushies better. So I will get back into it. I do still want to sew more of my characters as plushies. And also, I have bought an EXCESSIVE amount of faux fur That was before I knew I hated working with it xD

For now I'm still taking a sewing break. I'm not ready to face the frustration again. But when I'm ready, I'll make a fourth version of the pattern, fixing the things I don't like about this pattern and hopefully getting the pattern to a place where I'm happy with it. I'll be making a lighter coloured OC next in the hopes that lighter coloured faux fur might be slightly less horrible to work with.
